Carbó Municipality
Carbó (municipality) is a municipality in Sonora in north-western Mexico. Area and Population It has an area of 1962.66 square kilometers, which is 0.91 percent of the area of the state, and 0.09 percent of the national area of Mexico. The municipality's population was 4,966 residents in the year 2000. It had an annual growth rate of 0.8 percent from 1990 to 2000, and the density of population in 2000 was 2.95 residents per square kilometer (7.64 residents per square mile). In the census count of 2005 the population had dropped to 4,644. The census of 2000 showed that 4,189 people were living in the municipal seat. Juan José Carbó
Juan José Carbó Gatignol (March 19, 1927 – May 15, 2010) was a Spanish cartoonist and one of the great masters of Spanish comics, who won the 2005 Universidad de Alicante "premio Notario del Humor" ("Notary of Humor Award"), and signed all his Illustrations with his pseudonym, Carbó. Carbó drew in the mediums of newspapers, journals, children's magazines and even an adult magazine called ''Reseo'' (''Cattle Magazine''). Early life and education Juan José Carbó Gatignol, known primarily by his autographed signature of Carbó on his artwork, was born in Sueca, Spain on March 19, 1927. Ramon Casas i Carbó (; 4 January 1866 – 29 February 1932) was a Catalan artist. Living through a turbulent time in the history of his native Barcelona, he was known as a portraitist, sketching and painting the intellectual, economic, and political elite of Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, and beyond. He was also known for his paintings of crowd scenes ranging from the audience at a bullfight to the assembly for an execution to rioters in the Barcelona streets (El garrot). Artur Mundet I Carbó
Arturo Mundet Carbó ( ca, Artur Mundet i Carbó, ; Sant Antoni de Calonge, 8 April 1879 - Mexico City, 4 July 1965) was a Catalonia, Catalan businessman based in Mexico. Arturo Mundet came from a family of Catalan Cork (plug), cork manufacturers, and first travelled to Mexico to establish a branch of the company business there. In 1902, he created the Sidral Mundet apple flavoured soft drink which was destined to become popular in the Mexican market and beyond. He was known for his philanthropy, philanthropic work, including the creation of the Recinte Mundet in Barcelona and the Germandat de Sant Antoni de Calonge in his place of birth. Willy Carbo (born 14 August 1959 in Utrecht, Netherlands) is a retired Dutch footballer who played as a forward. Club career He made his professional debut and scored the first goal for hometown club FC Utrecht in the game against Go Ahead Eagles on 16 March 1980. He moved abroad to play in Belgium for Club Brugge, only to be loaned to Feyenoord in the second half of the season and winning the Dutch Eredivisie in a team containing Johan Cruyff and Ruud Gullit. With Brugge he played in the 1983 Belgian Cup Final, losing to Beveren. He later played for FC Twente, RKC, NEC and Cambuur where he finished his career. Carbó is the municipal seat of Carbó Municipality of the state of Sonora, Mexico. History The founding dates from 1888, when the main railroad in Sonora began to be constructed. Carbó was one of the stations built between the port of Guaymas and the border town of Nogales. Chuck Carbo
Hayward "Chuck" Carbo (January 11, 1926 – July 11, 2008) was an American R&B singer, best known for his time as a vocalist in the New Orleans group The Spiders. Chuck Carbo was born in Houma, Louisiana, then moved with his family to the Zion City neighborhood of New Orleans in the early 1930s. Chuck and brother Leonard "Chick" Carbo sang in the choir at their minister father's church. Among their influences were the Golden Gate Quartet and the King Cole Trio. The brothers served in the Coast Guard during World II. After the war the brothers became affiliated with the Zion City Harmonizers gospel quartet.
