Carancho
''Carancho'' is a 2010 crime film directed by Pablo Trapero and starring Ricardo Darín and Martina Gusmán. A co-production between Argentina, Chile, Spain, France and South Korea, the film was entered into the Un Certain Regard section of the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. The film was selected as the Argentine entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist. Plot Sosa is a lawyer recently expelled from the bar association who works as an ambulance chaser - known as " carancho" in Argentina - touring the emergency departments of the public hospitals and the police stations, in search of potential clients for his barely-legal law firm. Martina Gusmán
Martina Gusmán (born 28 October 1978) is an Argentine actress and film producer. Biography Martina Gusmán has produced around ten Argentinian films, including '' El Bonaerense'' (2002) and '' Familia rodante'' (2004). She also played under the direction of her partner Pablo Trapero in the film ''Nacido y criado'' and in ''Leonera''. This last film won her several prizes, including the best young actress award by the Argentine Academy of Cinematography Arts and Sciences. This is a list of submissions to the 83rd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. The deadline for all countries to send in their submissions was 1 October 2010. The submitted motion pictures must be first released theatrically in their respective countries between 1 October 2009, and 30 September 2010.
