Captain Apache
''Captain Apache'' is a 1971 Spanish-British acid Western film directed by Alexander Singer and starring Lee Van Cleef, Carroll Baker, and Stuart Whitman. It was written and produced by Milton Sperling and Philip Yordan. The film was based on the 1965 novel ''Captain Apache'' by Sidney Edgerton Whitman, a prolific writer of Western fiction. The vocals of the opening and credits song were written by Dolores Claman and performed by Van Cleef. Synopsis Captain Apache is a Native American U.S. Cavalry officer, who finds himself tangled into a conspiracy, and proceeding upon the case of solving the enigma of the last words of a dead commissioner (and captain′s old friend) which were: "April morning". Each time he nears discovering the meaning of the phrase, another character capable of providing certain help in solving the mystery dies and throws him off the trail. Alexander Singer
Alexander Singer (born 18 April 1928, in New York City, New York, died 28 December 2020) was an American director. He began his career behind the camera in 1951 as a cinematographer on the short documentary ''Day of the Fight'', directed by his high-school friend Stanley Kubrick.Gelmis, Josep"An Interview with Stanley Kubrick (1969) excerpted from ''The Film Director as Superstar'' New York: Doubleday, 1970. Percy Herbert (actor)
Percy Herbert (31 July 1920 – 6 December 1992) was an English actor. He worked predominantly from the 1950s into the 1970s and became one of the most recognisable faces in post-war British cinema. Biography He served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps during the Second World War and spent four years in the Japanese prisoner of war camp Changi. After the war, he was helped by Dame Sybil Thorndike to secure an interview with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where he won a scholarship. His acting career began in the theatre, which included working at John Gielgud's Old Vic Company. Hugh Patrick McDermott (20 March 1906 – 29 January 1972) was a British professional golfer turned actor who made a number of film, stage and television performances between 1936 and 1972. He specialised in playing Americans, so much so that most British film fans had no idea that he was actually Scottish. Biography He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1906, and was educated in Davidson's Mains. Initially an instructor at the Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh, he later toured South and Central America and won the Central America Open and later helped design a course in Guatemala. A trip to the United States kindled his interest in the film industry, and he made his screen debut in ''Well Done, Henry'' and followed it up with an appearance as HM Stanley in ''David Livingstone''. Dan van Husen (30 April 1945 – 31 May 2020) was a German actor. He started his career in the 1960s, playing in a number of Spaghetti Westerns (usually he was cast as the bad guy), and also performed in Italian and German films by renowned directors including Frederico Fellini and Werner Herzog and in German TV series. Starting in the 2000s he performed in Hollywood films, and in 2008 had a role in a Dutch World War 2 movie, '' Winter in Wartime''. Early life Dan van Husen was born in Gummersbach, Germany, on 30 April 1945, the day Adolf Hitler committed suicide in Berlin. Career He was first discovered by Italian producers while working as a club disc jockey in Spain and began working increasingly seriously as an actor in the late 60s.
