Ralph Cappy
Ralph J. Cappy (August 25, 1943 – May 1, 2009) was a justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania from 1990 to 1998 and chief justice of the Court from 2003 to 2008. Prior to joining the state Supreme Court, Cappy was named to the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in 1978 and served as administrative judge of the civil division from 1986 to 1990. After leaving the Court in January 2008, he joined the law firm of Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney and practiced commercial litigation. He also served as chairman of the board of trustees at his alma mater the University of Pittsburgh. Cappy died at his Green Tree home on May 1, 2009, at age 65. Cappy Thompson (born January 22, 1952) is an American artist who works in the medium of glass. The basis of her reverse glass painting technique is ''Grisaille'', which has been used on stained glass since the Middle Ages. She lives and works in Seattle, Washington and has a residence in Olympia. She has been an artist in residence at Pilchuck Glass School and is a recipient of the school's Libensky award. Her best-known public works are ''Dreaming of Spirit Animals'' at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and ''Gathering the Light'' in the lobby of the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. Fred "Cappy" Capossela (1902–April 3, 1991) was an American thoroughbred race track announcer. Early life and career Capossela was born in Brooklyn in 1902. He got his start in thoroughbred racing in 1926 as a writer for the ''New York Evening Post''. He also covered the sport for the ''Brooklyn Eagle''. In 1934, Capossela called his first race at Tropical Park, where he filled in for the regular announcer for two weeks. Announcing In 1940, Capossela became assistant track announcer for New York's four thoroughbred race tracks, Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park, Saratoga Race Course, and Jamaica Race Course. Three years later he was promoted to lead announcer. He also called races at Florida's Hialeah Park Race Track. Franklin C. "Cappy" Cappon (October 17, 1900 – November 29, 1961) was an American college football and college basketball player and coach. He played football and basketball at Phillips University and the University of Michigan and coached at Luther College (1923–1924), the University of Kansas (1926–1927), the University of Michigan (1925, 1928–1938), and Princeton University (1938–1961). The son of a wealthy leather manufacturer in Holland, Michigan, Cappon was a star athlete in both basketball and football, and was named to All-Western football teams in 1920, 1921, and 1922. Before accepting a position at Princeton, Cappon was an assistant athletic director and basketball coach at Michigan from 1928 to 1938.
