Capital High School is a public secondary school located in the south side of Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States. The school, a part of Santa Fe Public Schools, was founded in 1988 and currently holds students in grades 9-12. The school's mascot is the Jaguar. Capital High is most notable for its rigorous Advanced Placement and college readiness Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) programs, along with their exclusive Career Academy Capstone Mentorship program, which provides students with Medical, Business, Performing Arts and Digital Design academies. The New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates interscholastic programs for junior and senior high schools in New Mexico. Los Cerrillos is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, United States. It is part of the Santa Fe, New Mexico Metropolitan Statistical Area. The New Mexico State Capitol, located in Santa Fe at 490 Old Santa Fe Trail, is the seat of government of the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is the only round state capitol in the United States and is known informally as "the Roundhouse". Design The building was designed to resemble the Zia sun symbol when viewed from above, with four entrance wings that protrude from the main cylindrical volume. Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a non-profit organization that provides professional learning for educators to close opportunity gaps and improve college and career readiness for high school and middle school students, especially those traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Silver or metallic gray is a color tone resembling gray that is a representation of the color of polished silver. The visual sensation usually associated with the metal silver is its metallic shine.
