Capeta
''Capeta'' is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masahito Soda. The manga won the Kodansha Manga Award for the '' shōnen'' category in 2005. The series consists of three separate arcs. The first is about Capeta's first experiences with kart racing at the age of 10. The next arc, which starts four years later, deals with Capeta trying to handle his growing financial issues due to the high cost involved in kart racing. The third is about Capeta trying to realize his dream of beating his rival and becoming a professional racer, venturing through into a more senior category: Formula Three. Masahito Soda
is a Japanese manga artist. Soda studied at Nihon University, but left prior to graduating. He worked as an assistant for Taku Kitazaki, and debuted in 1990 with ''GET ROCK'', published in ''Magazine Special''. His most notable series are ''Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M'' and ''Subaru''. In 1997 Soda won the Shogakukan Manga Award for ''Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M'', and in 2005 he won the Kodansha Manga Award for ''Capeta''. Kodansha Manga Award
is an annual award for serialized manga published in the previous year, the event is sponsored by the publisher Kodansha. It is currently awarded in three categories: '' shōnen'', '' shōjo'', and general. The awards began in 1977, initially with categories for ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo''. The first award for the general category was in 1982, and the first children's category's award was in 2003. The children's category was merged into the ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo'' categories starting in 2015. Each winning work will be honored with a bronze statuette, a certificate and a prize of 1 million yen (about US$7,500). Monthly Shōnen Magazine
is a monthly shōnen manga magazine published in Japan by Kodansha. It was launched in 1964 under the name . In 1969 it was retitled as and its publication frequency increased from quarterly to monthly. After suspension in 1974 it started publishing again, in 1975 it was renamed as current magazine title. It has a supplement magazine called ''Shōnen Magazine R'', which launched in 2015. The magazine originally published a new issue once every two months, until it became a digital-only magazine in October 2019 with a monthly schedule. Kart racing or karting is a road racing variant of motorsport with open-wheel, four-wheeled vehicles known as go-karts or shifter karts.
