Capenhurst
Capenhurst is a village and civil parish in Chester in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire England. According to the 2001 Census, Capenhurst had a population of 237, increasing to 380 at the 2011 Census. History Capenhurst was a township in Shotwick Parish of the Wirral Hundred and included parts of the hamlets of Dunkirk and Two Mills. The population was 147 in 1801, 148 in 1851, 159 in 1901, 253 in 1951 and 237 in 2001. Detail Capenhurst is home to a uranium enrichment plant owned by Urenco Group. A new Tails Management Facility is expected to be commissioned in 2018. Adjacent, but separate from this is the Capenhurst Technology Park. Holy Trinity Church, Capenhurst
Holy Trinity Church, Capenhurst is in the village of Capenhurst, Cheshire, England. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Wirral South. Its benefice is combined with that of St Oswald, Backford. History The church was built between 1856 and 1859 to a design by James Harrison. In 1889–90 the tower was built and details were added to the interior by John Douglas. Architecture Exterior The church is built in red sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings. The roof is of purple tiles. Its plan consists of a four- bay nave, a south porch, a two-bay chancel, a vestry, and a west tower with spire. Capenhurst Railway Station
Capenhurst railway station serves the village of Capenhurst and its substantial industrial facilities, in Cheshire, England. It also serves outer suburbs of Ellesmere Port. On the former GWR main line from London Paddington to Birkenhead Woodside it is now on the Wirral Line of the Merseyrail network, north of Chester. Facilities The station has platform CCTV, a 24-space car park and a cycle rack with 10 spaces as well as secure cycle storage for 20 cycles. Each platform has a waiting shelter with seating. There are departure and arrival screens, on the platform, for passenger information. There is access, to each platform, for passengers with wheelchairs or prams. However, cross-platform access, within the station, is by staircase only. Cheshire West and Chester is a Unitary authorities of England, unitary authority with Borough status in the United Kingdom, borough status in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It was established on 1 April 2009 as part of the 2009 structural changes to local government in England, 2009 local government changes, by virtue of an order under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007. The West Cheshire Association Football League (commonly known as the West Cheshire League) is an English football league in the county of Cheshire, which also includes teams from Merseyside. The Wirral line is one of two commuter rail routes operated by Merseyrail and centred on Merseyside, England, the other being the Northern line. The Wirral line connects Liverpool to the Wirral Peninsula via the Mersey Railway Tunnel, with branches to New Brighton, West Kirby, Chester and Ellesmere Port. The Hundred of Wirral is the ancient administrative area for the Wirral Peninsula. Its name is believed to have originated from the ''Hundred of Wilaveston'', the historic name for Willaston, which was an important assembly point in the Wirral Hundred during the Middle Ages.
