Cape Neddick Light
The Cape Neddick Light is a lighthouse in Cape Neddick, York, Maine. In 1874 Congress appropriated $15,000 to build a light station at the "Nubble" and in 1879 construction began. Cape Neddick Light Station was dedicated by the U.S. Lighthouse Service and put into use in 1879. It is still in use today. Plans had been in the works to build a lighthouse on the site since 1837. The tower is lined with brick and sheathed with cast iron. It stands tall but the light is above sea level because of the additional height of the steep rocky islet on which it sits. Unusually, the stanchions of the walkway railing around the lantern room are decorated with brass replicas of the lighthouse itself. Cape Neddick is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of York in York County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,568 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland– South Portland–Biddeford, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Cape Neddick is located at (43.169023, -70.617341). The CDP as defined includes all of the physical peninsula known as Cape Neddick, plus all of the unincorporated community of York Beach, which consists of two beaches, one on either side of Cape Neddick. The northern limit of the CDP is Cape Neddick Harbor, the western limit is Route 1, and the southern boundary is the border with York Harbor. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which is land and of it, or 6.03%, is water. Portsmouth Harbor Light
Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located within Fort Constitution in New Castle, New Hampshire, United States. History The station was established in 1771 and was the 10th of 11 light stations established prior to the American Revolution. The first tower was a shingled wooden structure with an iron lantern and copper roof. Its light source was three copper oil lamps. The first tower was replaced in 1804 by an octagonal wooden tower approximately east of the 1771 tower. Nobska Light, originally called Nobsque Light, also known as Nobska Point Light is a lighthouse located near the division between Buzzards Bay, Nantucket Sound, and Vineyard Sound in the settlement of Woods Hole, Massachusetts on the southwestern tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
