CapRadio
CapRadio (Capital Public Radio) is the public radio service of California State University, Sacramento. It consists of two full-power stations and five repeaters, all members of National Public Radio. It is the NPR member for Sacramento and much of the surrounding area, including Stockton, California, Stockton and Modesto, California, Modesto. The group is headquartered on Folsom Boulevard on the Sacramento State campus. Stations KXJZ (90.9 FM) in Sacramento airs news and talk programming from NPR, as well as jazz and blues programming on weekends. KXJZ's programming is repeated on KUOP in Stockton at 91.3 FM, KKTO in Tahoe City, California, Tahoe City at 90.5 FM, and KQNC in Quincy, California, Quincy at 88.1 FM. KKTO's signal also reaches Reno, Nevada, Reno and Carson City, Nevada, giving much of northern Nevada a second choice for NPR programming alongside that area's flagship station, KUNR. KXJZ
KXJZ (90.9 FM) is a public radio station in Sacramento, California. It airs programming from National Public Radio (NPR) and other public radio producers and distributors, as well as locally produced news and public affairs programs. It also offers a continuous 24-hour commercial-free classical music radio format on its HD2 subcarrier. KXJZ's sister station in Sacramento is KXPR (88.9 FM), which broadcasts classical music and a few non-classical programs at the weekend. The two stations are known as CapRadio (formerly Capital Public Radio). Both stations are owned by Sacramento State and share studio operations on campus, and KXJZ's transmitter is located near Rio Linda. KUOP
KUOP (91.3 FM) is an NPR-member radio station, licensed to Stockton, California, United States. The station is currently owned by California State University, Sacramento and is part of the news network of CapRadio (formerly Capital Public Radio). From 1947 to 2000, KUOP was the radio station of the University of the Pacific. Capital Public Radio began leasing out KUOP's air time in 2000 and bought the facility outright in 2007. History KCVN The College of the Pacific applied to build a new FM radio station on December 9, 1944. The Federal Communications Commission approved the application on June 27, 1946, and KCVN began broadcasting on September 22, 1947, at 7 p.m. (The KCOP call letters were held by a police facility in Texas which showed no interest in giving them up.) KXPR
KXPR (88.9 FM) is a classical music-formatted radio station in the Sacramento, California, area. The station is closely linked to sister-station KXJZ (90.9 FM), and the two stations are known as Capital Public Radio (now CapRadio). Both stations are owned by Sacramento State and share studio operations on campus, and KXPR's transmitter is located in Walnut Grove. In 2006 the stations swapped signals to their current configuration. The swap marked a return of sorts to KXPR's roots; in 1979, the station had originally signed in at 88.9 FM before moving to 90.9 in 1984. KXPR carries programming from NPR, and also has locally produced features as well as classical music shows. Although KXPR does have a HD Radio channel, it has yet to sign on a HD2 or HD3 subcarrier. Carson City, Nevada
Carson City is an independent city and the capital of the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 58,639, making it the sixth largest city in Nevada. The majority of the city's population lives in Eagle Valley, on the eastern edge of the Carson Range, a branch of the Sierra Nevada, about south of Reno. The city is named after the mountain man Kit Carson. Sutter, formerly South Butte and Sutter City, is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sutter County, California, United States. It is part of the Yuba City Metropolitan Statistical Area within the Greater Sacramento CSA. The population as of the 2010 census was 2,904, up from 2,885 at the 2000 census. History Originally a settlement called South Butte, established in the vicinity of the stage station at Butte House east of the current town. It had a post office from August 7, 1871, until December 17, 1878, and from February 18, 1879, to January 20, 1888, when it was moved to the new Sutter City Post Office nearby. Groveland is a census-designated place (CDP) in Tuolumne County, California. Groveland sits at an elevation of . The 2020 United States census reported Groveland's population was 540. Groveland was created as a CDP prior to the 2010 census; previously it was part of Groveland-Big Oak Flat CDP. History Groveland has always been an important stop on the highway to Yosemite but really grew in the early 1900s with the development of the Tuolumne River Hetch-Hetchy water project for the city of San Francisco. Tahoe City (formerly Tahoe) is an unincorporated town in Placer County, California. Tahoe City is located on the shore of Lake Tahoe, at the outlet of the Truckee River.
