Caotun
Caotun Township, formerly transliterated as Tsaotun Township, is an urban Township (Taiwan), township in the northwest of Nantou County, Taiwan. It is the largest township in Taiwan by population. History The area was historically known as ''Chháu-ê-tun'' () with the present name adopted under Taiwan under Japanese rule, Japanese rule in 1920. Jiujiufeng
Jiujiufeng ( zh, t=九九峰, p=Jiǔjiǔfēng, l=ninety-nine peaks) is a nature reserve located at the border of Taichung City and Nantou County, spanning the cities of Caotun, Guoxing, Wufeng, and Taiping. The protected area contains many small, jagged peaks, hence the name. Description Jiujiufeng is located on the north bank of the Dadu River southeast of Taichung City. Geologically, Jiujiufeng is located in the Toukeshan Formation (頭嵙山層), a Pleistocene-era formation primarily composed of gravelly rocks. Since the soil has high permeability, the peaks are easily eroded by rainfall to form the jagged peaks. Despite the terrain, Jiujiufeng still sustains a wide array of plant life, including the rare ''Reevesia formosana''. The 1999 Jiji earthquake caused many landslides within Jiujiufeng, which uncovered the red laterite surfaces beneath and destroyed much of the original vegetation. Yu-hsiu Museum Of Art
The Yu-hsiu Museum of Art () is an art museum in Caotun Township, Nantou County, Taiwan. History The museum was completed in October 2015, and opened in January 2016. Nantou County
Nantou County (; Hokkien POJ: ''Lâm-tâu-koān''; Hakka PFS: ''Nàm-thèu-yen'') is the second largest county of Taiwan by area, located in the central part of the country. It is also the only non-coastal county in Taiwan. Its name derives from the Hoanya Taiwanese aboriginal word ''Ramtau''. Tsai Ping-kun
Tsai Ping-kun (; born 1959) is a Taiwanese politician. Early life and education Tsai was born in Caotun, Nantou County, in 1959. He obtained his bachelor's degree from National Dong Hwa University, and master's and doctoral degree in education from National Chengchi University. Career Tsai was an independent politician before joining the Taiwan People's Party. He worked for the Ministry of Education as a division chief and was deputy commissioner of the Taichung County Cultural Affairs Department. Tsai served as president of the National Taichung First Senior High School through 2007, becoming principal at Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School in 2008. In 2010, Tsai was appointed deputy mayor of Taichung, alongside Hsiao Chia-chi, and under Jason Hu. Between 2015 and 2016, Tsai was deputy minister of culture. Hsieh Ming-yu (; born 8 February 1969) is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter. He was raised in Tainan, and moved to Taipei in 1990, where he wrote several songs for other singers, including Andy Lau, William So, and Anita Mui. Taichung City Bus
Taichung City Bus ( or so called ) is managed by the Transportation Bureau, Taichung City Government in Taichung City, Taiwan. This includes bus routes 1–989 which are operated by different bus companies. There're currently 275 bus routes, covering every districts. The main part of the network provides bus service in downtown area, some other routes connect different districts, and the others serve residents in rural or remote area. Fares The fares are calculated by mileage per ride. The basic fare is NT$20 for 10 km, and the extended fare is NT$2.431*(1+5% tax included) per km and round to the nearest integer. From 1 June 2011 to 30 June 2015, taking buses whose route numbers are under 300 with any of four sorts of electronic tickets (including EasyCard (悠遊卡)and I Pass (一卡通), could benefit from a free ride below 8 kilometers. Township (Taiwan)
Townships are the third-level administrative subdivisions of counties of the Republic of China (Taiwan), along with county-administered cities. After World War II, the townships were established from the following conversions on the Japanese administrative divisions: Although local laws do not enforce strict standards for classifying them, generally urban townships have a larger population and more business and industry than rural townships, but not to the extent of county-administered cities. Under townships, there is still the village as the fourth or basic level of administration.
