Canzo
Canzo (; lmo, Canz , locally ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) of the Italian province of Como. It is the last town north of the historical Brianza region of Lombardy, capital of the Lake Como Triangle community and a regional tourism destination. It has 5,192 citizens and an area of , a density of 445 persons/km2 (1,100/sq mi). Its history began in the 5th century BC, when it was founded by Celts and Gaulish Insubres. Prehistoric settlements date to the Mesolithic period and the Copper Age. The name of the town comes from the Latin ''Cantius'', itself from the Celtic root meaning ''edge''. It is known in Lombardy for its mountains, particularly the Corni di Canzo (Canzo's Horns) and the Cornizzolo. The surroundings are rich in watercourses and springs. Lago del Segrino is a glacial lake fed by underground springs. Canzo hosts ''BIOFERA'', one of the main organic farming events in Italy. Israel Gottlieb Canz
Israel Gottlieb Canz (26 February 1690 – 2 February 1753) was a Protestant theologian and philosopher of Germany.Pick 1885, p. 781. Life Israel Gottlieb Canz was born on 26 February 1690, at Grünthal.Richter 1876, p. 768. He studied at University of Tübingen, Tübingen, and took, in 1709, the degree of doctor of philosophy. In 1720 he was deacon at Nürtingen, and was, in 1734, appointed professor of elocution at Tübingen. In 1739 he was made professor of logic and metaphysics, and in 1747 professor of theology. He died there, on 2 February 1753, at the age of 62. Works From the first a decided opponent of the philosophy of Christian Wolff (philosopher), Wolf, he had already prepared a large volume in refutation of it, when he perceived that he had passed an unfair judgment upon it. Composers Association Of New Zealand
The Composers Association of New Zealand (CANZ), established in 1974, after an initial meeting of composers was organised by David Farquhar. Farquhar was the association's first president. It is a body that lobbies for the interests of New Zealand composers. Through its affiliations with the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) and thAsian Composers League CANZ provides its members with opportunities to participate in international music festivals as well as other opportunities. The organisation's flagship event is the annuaCANZ Nelson Composers Workshop a four-day gathering of New Zealand's emerging composers. CANZ members receive the yearbook, Canzona, and the bi-monthly newsletter, Canzonetta. The association presents two prizes annually: the KBB Citation for Services to New Zealand Music and the CANZ Trust Fund Award which recognises current compositional achievement.
