Canutillo Stadium is stadium in Canutillo, Texas. It is owned and operated by the Canutillo Independent School District and is home of the Canutillo High School Eagles. History It was opened to the public in 2005. It has a capacity of around 12,000 and is about 14 miles away from downtown El Paso. Canutillo Independent School District
Canutillo Independent School District (CISD) is a public school district with its headquarters in El Paso, Texas. Dr. Pedro Galaviz is the Superintendent of Schools. The district opened on April 18, 1959. In addition to Canutillo, the district serves almost all of Vinton as well as the communities of Prado Verde and Westway. A portion of El Paso also lies within the district. Construction is quickly filling in raw land within Canutillo ISD boundaries. Indios USA
Indios USA was an American soccer team based in El Paso, Texas, United States. Founded in 2007, the team played in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national amateur league at the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, until 2008, when the franchise folded and the team left the league. The team played its home games at Canutillo Stadium on the campus of Canutillo High School in nearby Canutillo, Texas. The team's colors were red and white. The team spent the 2008 season on hiatus while the club's finances and infrastructure were reorganized before ceasing operations in 2009. The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is an American men's association football, soccer league. The NPSL is a semi-professional league, comprising some teams that have paid players and some that are entirely amateur. The league is officially affiliated to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and has automatic qualification for the U.S. Open Cup. It is the successor of the Men's Premier Soccer League, a regional league originally based in the Western United States, which has now expanded nationwide to encompass teams from 29 states. Canutillo High School is a public high school in Canutillo, Texas. It is the only zoned comprehensive high school in the Canutillo Independent School District. In addition to Canutillo, the district serves almost all of Vinton as well as the communities of Prado Verde and Westway. A portion of the west side of El Paso also lies within the district. History The original high school was built in the early 1960s as it was the only high school in Texas built on the other side of the Rio Grande River. In the early first decade of the 21st century overcrowding was an issue at the aging facility. In 2003 a bond was passed to build the new High school along Interstate 10 next to the campus of the El Paso Community College. In 2006 the new high school opened its doors to the Borderland community. The original high school is still in there, but converted to Canutillo Middle School in 2006.
