In Belgium, there are judicial and electoral cantons. Judicial cantons A judicial canton ( nl, gerechtelijk kanton, links=no, french: canton judiciaire, links=no, german: gerichtlicher Kanton, links=no) is a group of municipalities over which a single justice of the peace has jurisdiction. A judicial arrondissement consists of all judicial cantons on its territory. There are 187 judicial cantons in Belgium as of 2017. Most judicial cantons cover multiple municipalities; however larger towns and cities are often divided into more than one judicial canton. The city of Antwerp, for instance, is divided into 12 judicial cantons. A judicial canton has an average population of 60,000 people, but some have a population as low as 30,000 people or as high as 100,000 people. Arendonk () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the town of Arendonk proper. In 2021, Arendonk had a total population of 13,207. The total area is 55.38 km². The spoken language is Kempenlands (an East Brabantian dialect, which is very similar to colloquial Dutch). Puurs () is a former municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. It is located in the Flemish Region. Mol, Belgium
Mol () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Mol. In 2021, Mol had a total population of 37,021 inhabitants. The total area is 114.19 km2. Mol is a popular holiday resort, with many lakes surrounded by woods. Lier (; french: Lierre, ) is a municipality located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. It is composed of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt. Kontich
Kontich (, old spelling: ''Contich'') is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Kontich proper and Waarloos. In 2021, Kontich had a total population of 21,260. The total area is 23.67 km³. Kontich exists of three parts: Kontich Centrum, Waarloos and Kontich Kazerne. Kontich Kazerne has a big industrial center and a train station on the line between Antwerp and Mechelen. The barracks (kazerne in Dutch) which gave the name to the settlement have closed however. Hoogstraten
Hoogstraten () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises Hoogstraten, Meer, Meerle, Meersel-Dreef, Minderhout and Wortel (Meersel-Dreef includes the northernmost point in Belgium).
