Coisy
Coisy (; pcd, Coésy) is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. Geography Coisy is situated on the D11a between the D11 and the N25, some north of Amiens. History Coisy is first mentioned in the 12th century, when it was under the jurisdiction of the seigneurs of Beauquesne. A Benedictine priory was established at the hamlet of Flesserolles in 1156, under Anchin Abbey. By the end of the 14th century, Coisy was governed by the ''Bureau de la Rivière''. Protestant assemblies were set up in 1570. Marshall Biron and his troops stopped here in 1597, during the French Wars of Religion. Querrieu () is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. Geography Querrieu is situated on the D 929 road, some northeast of Amiens, on the banks of the river Hallue. It is bordered by Fréchencourt on the north, Pont-Noyelles on the east, Bussy-lès-Daours on the south and Allonville on the west. History Henri IV battle After Amiens was invaded and taken by Spanish Netherlanders on 11 March 1597, Henri IV besieged the town with a considerable army. On 29 August he was notified of the approach of a significant Spanish force (four companies of arquebuse-men and 300 mounted soldiers), protecting a supplies convoy. The King sallied from his camp north of Amiens, accompanied by Biron, de Lagrange-Montigny, the count of Auvergne, and headed toward the enemy train. Molliens-au-Bois
Molliens-au-Bois () is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. Geography The commune is situated on the D30 and D78 road junction, some northeast of Amiens. History During the Battle of Amiens in August 1918, the divisional HQ of the U.S 33rd Infantry Division was set up in the chateau at Molliens-au-Bois. During that period, King George V went to the castle and awarded medals to General Pershing and other troops. General Bell was the C.O of the division. On the night of August 8–9, 1918, as three Battalions of Doughboys from the 33rd U.S. Division were joining the Allied offensive during the Battle of Amiens, American war poet Lieut. John Allan Wyeth and Lieut. Thomas J. Cochrane were assigned to deliver sealed orders from Division HQ at Molliens-au-Bois to the Field Headquarters of all three Battalions engaged in the attack.
