The Canton in France, canton of Sisteron is an administrative division in southeastern France. Sisteron
Sisteron (; , oc, label=Mistralian norm, Sisteroun; from oc, label=Old Occitan, Sestaron) is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, southeastern France. Sisteron is situated on the banks of the river Durance just after the confluence of the rivers Buëch and Sasse. It is sometimes called the "Gateway to Provence" because it is in a narrow gap between two long mountain ridges. It is from Marseille, also from Grenoble, from Nice and from Forcalquier. The cantons of France are territorial subdivisions of the French Republic's departments and arrondissements. Apart from their role as organizational units in relation to certain aspects of the administration of public services and justice, the chief purpose of the cantons today is to serve as constituencies for the election of members of the representative assemblies established in each of France's territorial departments ( departmental councils, formerly general councils). Mison
Mison () is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southeastern France. At the top of the hill in the village are the remains of a 13th-century castle built by the Mérvouillon family. The building is organised around a central courtyard and the four main buildings are flanked by square towers. There are two gates. The castle was abandoned by the end of the 18th century.
