Canton Of Le Sud-Médoc
The canton of Le Sud-Médoc is an administrative division of the Gironde department, southwestern France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Lacanau. Cantons Of France
The cantons of France are territorial subdivisions of the France, French Republic's Departments of France, departments and Arrondissements of France, arrondissements. Apart from their role as organizational units in relation to certain aspects of the administration of public services and justice, the chief purpose of the cantons today is to serve as Constituency, constituencies for the election of members of the representative assemblies established in each of France's territorial departments (Departmental council (France), departmental councils, formerly general councils). Moulis-en-Médoc
Moulis-en-Médoc is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. Geography The village is situated in the Médoc on a hill, overhanging the Tiquetorte stream, which flows into the Gironde estuary. Districts: ''Le Bourg, Bouqueyran, Grand-Poujeaux''... History Vineyards have been cultivated in Moulis at least as far back as Roman times, as three Gallo-Roman establishments have already been discovered. The grape variety biturica is from this era, an ancestor of the cabernet variety. The term "biture" meaning "booze-up", relating to "ivresse" or "intoxication" comes from this variety of grape. During the Middle Ages, the Médoc was the granary of Bordeaux. This is demonstrated by the presence of numerous mills to grind the grain.
