Canton Of Le Mont-Blanc
The canton of Le Mont-Blanc (French: ''Canton du Mont-Blanc'') is an administrative division of the Haute-Savoie department, Southeastern France. It elects two members of the Departmental Council of Haute-Savoie, known as departmental councillors (''conseillers départementaux''). It was created at the 2014 cantonal reorganisation process, which came into effect for the 2015 departmental election. Its seat is Passy, its most populated commune. Vallorcine () is a Communes of France, commune in the Haute-Savoie Departments of France, department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regions of France, region in southeastern France. In 2018, it had a population of 404. Geography Vallorcine is located in the Valley of the L'Eau Noire between the Col des Montets and the France–Switzerland border, Swiss border. It is the terminus of the Saint-Gervais–Vallorcine railway on the route between Saint-Gervais-les-Bains in France and Martigny in Switzerland; it is served by a Vallorcine station, railway station where passengers must change between French and Swiss trains. Saint-Gervais-les-Bains () is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, southeastern France. The village is best known for tourism and has been a popular holiday destination since the early 1900s. Les Contamines-Montjoie () is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. Etymology The original name of the village, ''Les Contamines,'' is from the word ''contamines'', which in the ancient local dialect meant ploughable land on the estate of the squire. History In 1760 the parish became independent of the parish of Saint-Nicolas de Véroce. Creation of the local Mountain Guides Company which was established in 1850, marked the first corporation in the village dedicated to tourism.
