Aubagne (, ''Aubanha'' in Occitan language, Occitan according to the classic norm or ''Aubagno'' according to the Mistralian norm) is a Commune in France, commune in the southern French Departments of France, department of Bouches-du-Rhône. In 2018, it had a population of 47,208. Its inhabitants are known as ''Aubagnais'' or ''Aubagnaises''. In 2020, the commune was awarded three flowers by the National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom in the Concours des villes et villages fleuris, Competition of cities and villages in Bloom. Geography Aubagne is located in the Huveaune Valley and surrounded by the mountain ranges of Garlaban with Sainte-Baume to the north and east of Marseille. Aubagne was the main city of the former Agglomeration community of Pays d'Aubagne et de l'Étoile; it has been part of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis since 2016. Cassis (; Occitan: ''Cassís'') is a commune situated east of Marseille in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, whose coastline is known in English as the French Riviera, in Southern France. In 2016, it had a population of 7,265. It is a popular tourist destination, famous for its cliffs (''falaises'') and the sheltered inlets called '' calanques''. Gémenos (; oc, Gèmas) is a commune located 20 kilometers east of Marseille in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southern France. Population History A property abstract belonging to Wilhem, Count of Marseilles, dating back to February 9 934, noted for the first time the existence of a castrum named ''Geminas'' at the entry of the Saint Pons valley. In 1204, the bishop of Marseilles ''Rainier'' founded the Cistercian abbey of Saint Pons. Around the 15th century, Geminas was deserted. Carnoux-en-Provence (; oc, Carnós de Provença), commonly referred to simply as Carnoux, is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southern France. It was created in 1966 from the commune of Roquefort-la-Bédoule. In 2018, Carnoux-en-Provence had a population of 6,564. Carnoux-de-Provence is located 16.3 km (10.3 mi) to the east-southeast of Marseille.
