Cantiague Park
Cantiague Park is a public park maintained by the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Museums, located in Hicksville, New York. History Cantiague Park was opened by Nassau County to the public in 1961 in response to a growing population. It was the second major park opened by the county, the first being Eisenhower Park. Several of the facilities at the park were designed by Valley Stream-based Frederic P. Wiedersum Associates. In the 2000s, Cantiague Park was one of several parks Nassau County considered transferring ownership of to the local towns (in this case, transferring control of Cantiague Park to the Town of Oyster Bay). The park ultimately remains owned by Nassau County. Hicksville, New York
Hicksville is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York. The population of the CDP was 41,547 at the 2010 census. History Valentine Hicks, son-in-law of abolitionist and Quaker preacher Elias Hicks, and eventual president of the Long Island Rail Road, bought land in the village in 1834 and turned it into a station stop on the LIRR in 1837. The station became a depot for produce, particularly cucumbers for a Heinz Company plant. After a blight destroyed the cucumber crops, the farmers grew potatoes. Eisenhower Park, formerly known as Salisbury Park, is a public park in East Meadow, New York bordered by Hempstead Turnpike on the south and Old Country Road on the north. Oyster Bay (town), New York
The Town of Oyster Bay is the easternmost of the three towns which make up Nassau County, New York, United States. Part of the New York metropolitan area, it is the only town in Nassau County to extend from the North Shore to the South Shore of Long Island. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 301,332.
