Canon O'Brien Cup
The Canon O'Brien Cup is an annual hurling match contested by Cork and University College Cork. The match, usually played in January at the Mardyke Sports Ground, is often regarded as a pre-season warm-up game for the two participants. Organised by the Cork County Board, admission to the match is free; however, those attending the game are asked to make a donation to volunteer collectors on the day, with all proceeds going to the Irish Alzheimer's Society. The fixture was first played in 2013. The current holders (2020) are University College Cork. History The Canon O'Brien Cup was launched in 2013 by GAA President Liam O'Neill. Eoghan Murphy (hurler)
Eoghan Murphy (born 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays for Cork Senior Championship club Sarsfields and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a right wing-back. Playing career University College Cork On 23 February 2019, Murphy was joint-captain of the University College Cork team that faced Mary Immaculate College in the Fitzgibbon Cup final. He was at centre-back in the 2-21 to 0-13 victory. Murphy was involved in a second successive Fitzgibbon Cup final on 12 February 2020 when he once again served as joint-captain of the team. Colm Spillane
Colm Spillane (born 1 July 1993) is an Irish hurler who plays for Cork Championship club Castlelyons. He played for the Cork senior hurling team at various stages between 2013 and 2021, during which time he usually lined out as a corner-back. Spillane began his hurling career at club level with Castlelyons. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 16-year-old in 2010, before later lining out for University College Cork and Imokilly, winning consecutive County Championship titles with the latter. At inter-county level, Spillane enjoyed five consecutive but unsuccessful seasons with the Cork minor and under-21 teams, before later winning an All-Ireland Intermediate Championship title. Daniel Kearney
Daniel Kearney (born 19 December 1989) is an Irish hurler who plays for Cork Championship club Sarsfields. He was a member of the Cork senior hurling team for eight seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a right wing-forward. Early life Kearney was born in Glanmire, County Cork. Séamus Harnedy
Séamus Harnedy (born 17 July 1990) is an Irish hurler who plays for East Cork Championship club St Ita's, divisional side Imokilly and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a centre-forward. Playing career University College Cork During his tenure at University College Cork, Harnedy played a key role for the university's various hurling teams. Conor Lehane
Conor Lehane (born 30 July 1992) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a centre-forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Midleton, County Cork, Lehane first played competitive hurling at Midleton CBS Secondary School. Here he won Rice Cup and Cork Colleges medals before later featuring on the Harty Cup team. As a student at University College Cork, Lehane won a Fitzgibbon Cup medal in 2013. Stephen Moylan (hurler)
Stephen Moylan (born 18 October 1987) is an Irish hurler who plays for Cork Senior Championship club Douglas. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for five seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a right corner-forward. Moylan began his hurling career at club level with Douglas. Robert O'Shea (born 20 July 1993) is an Irish hurler who plays as a midfielder for the Cork senior team.
