Canon EOS R3
The Canon EOS R3 is a 24 megapixel full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera launched by Canon officially announced by Canon on 14 September 2021 alongside two RF mount lenses. The camera is available as body only with a MSRP of US$5,999.00. The camera marks the return of eye-controlled autofocus, a feature not seen in a Canon camera since the Canon EOS-3 in 1998. Even though the camera was not officially released to the public, it was already used at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan. The EOS R3 won Camera Grand Prix 2022 Editors Choice Technology Award. In July 2022, EOS R3 firmware update 1.2.0, enabled this camera to shoot up to 50 frames at a custom high-speed continuous mode rate of 195 frames per second with full resolution in JPEG, HEIF or RAW format. The Canon EOS R5 is a full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera officially announced by Canon on July 9, 2020 alongside the lower-resolution EOS R6 and various new RF mount lenses. While it is not a direct successor to any of Canon's previous mirrorless cameras, it does have clear improvements and advantages over the EOS R, namely: a new DIGIC X processor and sensor, 8K video capture, a new autofocus system, and the ability to take videos with 10-bit colours. An electronic viewfinder (EVF) is a camera viewfinder where the image captured by the lens is displayed on a small screen (usually LCD or OLED) which the photographer can look through when composing their shot. It differs from a live preview screen in being smaller and shaded from ambient light, and may also use less power. The sensor records the view through the lens, the view is processed, and finally projected on a miniature display which is viewable through the eyepiece. Digital viewfinders are used in digital still cameras and in video cameras. Log Profile
A log profile, or logarithmic profile, is a shooting profile, or gamma curve, found on some digital video cameras that gives a wide dynamic and tonal range, allowing more latitude to apply colour and style choices. Rolling Shutter
Rolling shutter is a method of image capture in which a still picture (in a still camera) or each frame of a video (in a video camera) is captured not by taking a snapshot of the entire scene at a single instant in time but rather by scanning across the scene rapidly, vertically, horizontally or rotationally. In other words, not all parts of the image of the scene are recorded at exactly the same instant. (Though, during playback, the entire image of the scene is displayed at once, as if it represents a single instant in time.) This produces predictable distortions of fast-moving objects or rapid flashes of light. This is in contrast with "global shutter" in which the entire frame is captured at the same instant. Canon RF Lens Mount
The Canon RF lens mount is an interchangeable-lens mount developed by Canon for its full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras, and featured first by the EOS R, followed by the EOS RP. The RF mount was announced in September 2018. In May 2022, Canon announced APS-C EOS R cameras (the EOS R10 and EOS R7) and RF-S lenses designed for these cameras. The RF mount allows for the use of Canon EF and EF-S mount lenses using one of three Canon-made lens adapters.
