These are the results of the men's K-1 1000 metres competition in canoeing at the 1936 Summer Olympics Canoeing was an official Olympic sport for the first time at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. It had been a demonstration sport twelve years earlier at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. A total of nine events were contested at the 1936 Gam .... The K-1 event is raced by single-man canoe sprint kayaks. The heats and the final took place on Saturday, August 8. Fifteen canoeists from 15 nations competed. Canoeing At The 1936 Summer Olympics
Canoeing was an official Olympic sport for the first time at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. It had been a demonstration sport twelve years earlier at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. A total of nine events were contested at the 1936 Games, all in Canoe racing, canoe sprint for men. In total, 158 canoeists from 19 nations took part in the canoe races. All these countries had sent in entries before the deadline, the only late entry came from Latvia, which was as a result excluded from participating in the canoeing competitions. The competitions were held on Friday, August 7, 1936, and Saturday, August 8, 1936. They were held on a regatta course at Grünau (Berlin), Grünau on the Langer See. Hans Potthof
Hans Potthof (January 24, 1911 – March 29, 2003) was a Swiss painter as well as a sprint canoeist who competed in the late 1930s. Potthof completed in the K-1 1000 m event at the 1936 Summer Olympics, but was eliminated in the heats. He later was a painter and graphic artist; he painted landscapes and figures, and created drawings, lithographs, murals, mosaics and stained glass. Kayak
A kayak is a small, narrow watercraft which is typically propelled by means of a double-bladed paddle. The word kayak originates from the Greenlandic word ''qajaq'' (). Ivar Iversen
Ivar Iversen (24 August 1914 – 19 August 2012) was a Norwegian sprint canoeist who competed from the late 1930s to the late 1940s. He won a gold medal in the K-1 4 x 500 m event at the 1948 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in London. Iversen also competed at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, finishing eighth in the K-1 1000 m event.
