John Canny
John F. Canny (born in 1958) is an Australian computer scientist, and '' Paul E Jacobs and Stacy Jacobs Distinguished Professor of Engineering'' in the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Berkeley. He has made significant contributions in various areas of computer science and mathematics, including artificial intelligence, robotics, computer graphics, human-computer interaction, computer security, computational algebra, and computational geometry. Nicholas Canny
Nicholas Patrick Canny (born 1944) is an Irish historian and academic specializing in early modern Irish history. He has been a lecturer in Irish history at the University of Galway since 1972 and professor there from 1979 to 2011. He is Emeritus Professor of History, University of Galway. Biography Born at Clifden on 4 January 1944 to Cecil Canny and Helen Joyce, he was educated at Kilfenora national school, St. Flannan's College, Ennis, and University College Galway (now the University of Galway) from where he graduated with a BA in 1964, and an M.A. in 1967. Paddy Canny
Paddy Canny (1919 – 28 June 2008) was an Irish fiddle player. In a career that spanned over six decades, Canny was instrumental in popularizing Irish traditional music, both in Ireland and internationally. He gained initial fame in the late 1940s as a founding member of The Tulla Céilí Band, which made its first appearance on RTÉ Radio in 1948 and had positioned itself as the top céilí band in Ireland by the late 1950s. Canny captured the All Ireland fiddle championship in 1953 and was featured on the landmark 1959 recording, ''All-Ireland Champions: Violin''. Steven Canny
Steven Canny is an Executive Producer for BBC Studios Comedy and has written a number of plays. Education Canny attended Filton High School, Bristol, before going to St. Brendan's Sixth Form College, Bristol, and then University of Surrey. Career Canny began his career as a theatre director and writer. He was associate director for theatre company Complicite from 1999–2004 where productions included Mnemonic, The Noise of Time, The Elephant Vanishes, Light and he was also Associate Director on Al Pacino's The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. He was the dramaturg on Complicite's production of Measure for Measure at the National Theatre. Canny Edge Detector
The Canny edge detector is an edge detection operator that uses a multi-stage algorithm to detect a wide range of edges in images. It was developed by John F. Canny in 1986. Canny also produced a ''computational theory of edge detection'' explaining why the technique works. Development Canny edge detection is a technique to extract useful structural information from different vision objects and dramatically reduce the amount of data to be processed.
