Life Cann was the son of Robert Cann, a farmer and a wrestler in Devonshire, and his wife, Mary. Young Abraham was baptised at Colebrooke, near Crediton, on 2 December 1794. Kate Cann (born 1954) is an English author of fiction. Biography Cann wrote stories and diaries in her youth. She she received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Kent in 1977, then a Master of Arts in American Literature from the same university in 1978. Cann began work 'in the 1980s for publishing house, Time Life Books as a copy-editor', and when working on a piece of young adult fiction decided that she could do better - in her own words, 'got bitten by the "I can do better than this" bug, and started writing...it took me over'. Steven Cann (born 20 January 1988) is a South African-born Welsh footballer who plays for Welsh Premier League side Port Talbot Town. Club career Having started his career at Derby County, Cann was released in June 2007. After his release by Derby, Cann joined Rotherham United on 31 July 2007, after impressing in a trial. He played his first game for the Millers in a 3-0 FA Cup loss to Aldershot Town. Sydney Thomas Cann (30 October 1911 – 1 November 1996) was an English professional football defender and football manager. He was capped twice by England at Schools level. Playing career Born in Babbacombe, Torquay, Sid Cann joined Torquay United from Babbacombe school in November 1928, making his league debut away to Crystal Palace. After battling for a first team place with Willie Brown, he began the following season as a first choice, missing only a handful of games before moving to Manchester City in March 1930. The Cann Baronetcy, of Compton Green in the County of Gloucester, was a title in the Baronetage of England. Sir Robert Cann, 1st Baronet (c. 1621–1685), of Small Street, Bristol and Stoke Bishop, Westbury-on-Trym, Gloucestershire, was an English politician. He was Mayor of Bristol in 1662, a member of the Society of Merchant Venturers, and enlarged Trinity College, Bristol, Trinity Theological College at Stoke Bishop. Cann campaigned for a law against kidnapping of white children for plantation work, but was himself fined in 1685 for taking criminals from Bristol to work on Bristol-owned Caribbean plantations. Michael James Cann (born 4 July 1965) is a former cricketer from Wales. He played first-class and one-day cricket for Glamorgan, Orange Free State, Griqualand West, Boland and the Impalas between 1986 and 1994. He was a left-handed batsman and right-arm offbreak bowler. A middle-order and opening batsman, Cann scored four first-class centuries, three of them in South Africa. His highest score was 141 (after scoring 80 in the first innings) when Griqualand West successfully chased 291 to defeat Boland in 1990–91. Mikala Cann (born 4 November 2000) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Collingwood Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Junior career Cann originally played basketball and aspired to a career in the sport at an American college. Her local football club was Blackburn. In 2018, she first took up competitive football in the TAC Cup Girls with the Eastern Ranges. Playing all nine matches, Cann was named in the league's team of the year. Maurice Cann (23 March 1911 – February 1989) was a British former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He entered his first Manx Grand Prix in 1931, and in 1938 competed in his first Isle of Man TT. Cann won the 1948 Lightweight TT aboard a Moto Guzzi. He competed from 1949 to 1952 in the Grand Prix world championships.
