Orgy (band)
Orgy is an American Rock music, rock band formed in 1994, from Los Angeles, California. They have described their industrial rock music as "death pop". The band is best known for their cover version of the New Order (band), New Order song "Blue Monday (New Order song), Blue Monday", and the song "Stitches (Orgy song), Stitches", both from their 1998 album ''Candyass''. History Early years (1994–1997) Orgy was formed in 1994 by vocalist Jay Gordon (singer), Jay Gordon and guitarists Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck. Bassist Paige Haley and drummer Bobby Hewitt soon completed the line-up. Derakh had previously gained some fame in the 1980s heavy metal music, metal band Rough Cutt, and Hewitt was a former member of Electric Love Hogs. Blue Monday (New Order Song)
"Blue Monday" is a song by English rock band New Order. It was released as a 12-inch single on 7 March 1983 through Factory Records. The song appears on certain cassette and CD versions of the band's second studio album, ''Power, Corruption & Lies'' (1983). The track was written and produced by Gillian Gilbert, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Bernard Sumner. "Blue Monday" is a synth-pop and alternative dance song that drew inspirations from many works of other artists. The 12-inch single was backed with a primarily instrumental version of the song entitled "The Beach" on the B-side. The single's unique packaging was designed by Peter Saville and Brett Wickens. It features a die-cut sleeve designed to resemble a -inch floppy disk. The front cover features no words, but instead has code in the form of coloured blocks that reads out the artist, song and label information, once deciphered. Jay Gordon is an American singer and voice actor. He is best known as the lead singer and original member of the rock band Orgy, which he founded in 1994. Career 1994–2000 Orgy's first release, 1998's ''Candyass'', would prove to be a huge success and earned a platinum certification in sales, which was primarily fueled by the popularity of their cover of New Order's " Blue Monday", as well as that of their first single, " Stitches". The band would release singles of both during this period, which would contain numerous remixes of the songs, some of which were created by Gordon himself, a trend which would continue to occur throughout all of Orgy's subsequent single releases. Vapor Transmission
''Vapor Transmission'' is the second album by American Industrial rock band Orgy. It was released on October 10, 2000. The first 1000 pressings (as well as the Japanese release) of the album included a bonus track known as "The Spectrum", which starts at the 6 minute mark of the last track "Where's Gerrold". Some packages of this album included an enhanced CD that contained a demo version of the song "Stitches," a remix, and a video for the single "Fiction (Dreams in Digital)". The aforementioned single received significant radio play upon release, reaching number 6 on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart. A second single, "Opticon", had more moderate success, and was featured on the soundtrack to the 2001 horror film '' Valentine''. "Suckerface" and "Eva" were also released as promotional singles. Jonathan Howsmon Davis (born January 18, 1971), also known as JD or JDevil, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist and frontman of nu metal band Korn, who are considered a pioneering act of the nu metal genre. Davis' distinctive personality and Korn's music influenced a generation of musicians and performers who have come after them. Industrial metal is the fusion of heavy metal and industrial music, typically employing repeating metal guitar riffs, sampling, synthesizer or sequencer lines, and distorted vocals. Amir Derakh
Amir Davidson, professionally known as Amir Derakh, is an American musician and record producer. He is currently the guitarist and the synthesizer player for the band Julien-K, and was the guitarist for the band Dead by Sunrise. He was once the guitar synthesizer player in the rock band Orgy, and has also played guitar in the bands Rough Cutt and Jailhouse. Career After graduating in 1981 from Mission Bay High School in San Diego, California, Derakh played lead guitar for local bands Armed & Ready and Emerald. He moved to Los Angeles to replace Craig Goldy in Rough Cutt. He made a guest appearance on Crazy Town's album, ''The Gift of Game''. Julien-K released a remix of Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington's solo song "Morning After" which appeared exclusively on the soundtrack for the 2006 film, '' Underworld: Evolution''. Troy Van Leeuwen (born January 5, 1970) is an American musician and record producer. He is best known as a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist in the rock band Queens of the Stone Age, with whom he has recorded four studio albums. Joining the band in 2002, he is the second-longest-serving member of the band, after founding member Josh Homme. Leeuwen is also a member of the supergroup Gone Is Gone and has fronted his own projects, Enemy and Sweethead.
