Candice Burch
Candice Burch (born 26 August 1988) is an Australian politician who was a Liberal Party of Australia (Australian Capital Territory Division), Liberal member of the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly. Candice Burch is not to be confused with nor is biologically related to Joy Burch, who is another member of the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly, ACT Legislative Assembly. Candice Burch was one of three Canberra Liberals who lost their seat in the 2020 Australian Capital Territory general election, 2020 ACT Election. Since losing her seat in the Assembly, Candice now works as Public Affairs and Communications Manager for the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. Kurrajong Electorate
The Kurrajong electorate is one of the five electorates for the unicameral 25-member Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly. It elected five members at the 2016 ACT election. History Kurrajong was created in 2016, when the five-electorate, 25-member Hare-Clark electoral system was first introduced for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Legislative Assembly, replacing the previous three-electorate, 17-member system. The name "Kurrajong" is derived from an Aboriginal word for the tree (''Brachychiton populneus'', meaning "shade tree", and also Kurrajong Hill, the name early settlers used for Capital Hill, the location of Parliament House. ACT Greens
The ACT Greens is a green political party located in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), and a member of the federation of the Australian Greens. Both parties were formed in 1992, three years after the ACT achieved self-government in 1989. Since its formation the ACT Greens has had a significant presence in the ACT Legislative Assembly, having formed minority or coalition governments with the ACT Labor Party since 2008. Rebecca Vassarotti
Rebecca Vassarotti (born 1972) is a member of parliament in the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly representing the ACT Greens. Vassarotti was born and raised in Canberra. Her mother was a teacher and is an advocate for public schooling. Vassarotti spent ten years with the YWCA in Canberra, including as executive director. She worked as a consultant in the not for profit sector, and was director on the board of numerous companies. She was a finalist for the ACT Australian of the Year. She is also an advocate for a reduction in the access to Slot machine, poker machines and is the Greens spokesperson on that issue.
