Canberra Giants
GIANTS Netball Academy is an Australian netball team that represents Netball New South Wales in the Australian Netball League. The team was originally formed in 2016 as a partnership between Netball ACT, Netball New South Wales and Giants Netball. Between 2017 and 2019 they played in the ANL as Canberra GIANTS. They were grand finalists in 2018. In 2019, Netball ACT and Giants Netball ended their partnership and the latter relaunched the team as the Giants Netball Academy. Netball ACT subsequently formed a new ANL team, Capital Darters. History Canberra Giants In late 2016, Netball ACT, Netball New South Wales and Giants Netball formed a partnership in order to enter a team in the Australian Netball League. Canberra Giants subsequently replaced Canberra Darters as Netball ACT's ANL franchise. Between 2017 and 2019, Giants played in the ANL. Maddie Hay
Maddie Hay (born 11 April 1995) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for Giants Netball. Hay grew up playing netball and representing New South Wales and Australia at various underage levels. She was a training partner at Giants Netball in 2018/19, though earned her debut in Round 1 of the 2019 season, briefly coming onto the court to replace an injured player. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth nations. Kiera Austin
Kiera Austin (born 26 August 1997) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, having previously playing for Giants Netball. She injure her ACL and was out for the whole 2021 season and after youngster Sophie Dwyer came in she looked else where to play. The Vixens were quick to snatched her up after not offering Kaylia Stanton another contract. Austin debuted in the Super Netball league for the Giants in 2018, having been a training partner for Canberra Giants in the Australian Netball League the previous year. She was a frequent member of underage state and national teams before debuting for the Giants, most notably earning a silver medal for Australia at the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup. AIS Arena
AIS Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Canberra, Australia. Its capacity is 5,200 and it was built in 1980. The arena was opened by the Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Fraser, on 26 January 1981 and was originally named the National Indoor Sports Centre and was the inaugural home of the Australian Institute of Sport. History The arena was designed by Philip Cox & Partners. Architectural features include a 1200 tonne suspended concrete panel roof supported by 12 steel masts and 36 mainstay cables. The roof has a span of 100.4 metres. The stadium is partly set into the ground to reduce its scale and to establish a visual connection between the landscape and the mast and cable structure of the roof. Amy Parmenter (born 1 August 1997) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for Giants Netball. Parmenter was elevated to the Giants senior ahead of the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball season, 2019 season, having been a training partner with Canberra Giants in the Australian Netball League for the previous two years. Before her time in the ANL, Parmenter represented Netball New South Wales and Australia at under 17/19 levels. Teigan O'Shannassy
Teigan O’Shannassy (born 14 April 1999) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for Giants Netball. O’Shannassy was elevated to the Giants senior team ahead of the 2019 season, after having been a training partner with the extended Giants squad the previous two years. The Giants elevated O’Shannassy into the line-up despite the fact she suffered a serious Achilles injury whilst representing the New South Wales Institute of Sport at the 2018 Netball New Zealand Super Club tournament. Taylah Davies
Taylah Davies (born 3 October 1994 in Wollongong, Australia) is an Australian netballer. Primarily a wing attack and centre player, Davies was a member of the NSW Swifts in the ANZ Championship and the Giants in the Suncorp Super League. Career Taylah Davies has represented NSW in netball many times. She was a member of the 2013 NSW Waratahs ANL Team who were runners up, the 2010-2011 NSW 17/U Squad, 2012 NSW 19/U Team and 2013-14 21/U Team. She was also awarded the Marj Groves AM Scholarship in 2013 and 2014. This is awarded to an outstanding athlete within the NSW Institute of Sport Netball Program.
