Star Channel is a Latin American pay television channel operated by Disney Media Networks Latin America, Part of The Walt Disney Company Latin America. The channel is mainly oriented towards family audiences, unlike its sister channel FX which is aimed at young males. Most shows retain their original English-language titles. History The channel was originally launched as Fox, the localized version of the American television network Fox Broadcasting Company. The Spanish-language broadcast began on 14 August 1993 and the Portuguese-language broadcast began on 17 September 1994. The channel took part in the worldwide premiere of '' The Walking Dead'' on November 1, 2010, and the Zombie Invasion Event promotion that led up to it. 1080i
1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence. Disney Junior is a cable and satellite television channel in Hispanic America. It is the local variant of the American channel of the same name. It is broadcast in two feeds: North Zone and South Zone. It is marketed to preschoolers. Disney Junior is operated by Disney Media Networks Latin America and owned by The Walt Disney Company Latin America, both of The Walt Disney Company. It was launched on June 1, 2008, as Playhouse Disney Channel. Formerly it only was a programming block in the mornings of Disney Channel Latin America, where it still is a programming block, as Disney Junior en/no Disney Channel. ''The Simpsons'' is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. Grupo Multimedios is a Mexican media conglomerate with holdings in broadcast television, radio, publishing and entertainment. The company is headquartered in Monterrey.
