Canadian Wild
The Canadian Wild, officially the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois, were a professional women's softball team based in Marion, Illinois. They were founded in 2019 as part of National Pro Fastpitch and are partnered with the Canada women's national softball team. The team is composed entirely of Canadian players and is essentially the Canada women's national softball team and allows the team to play against top competition for most of the year, although there are some other players from Softball Canada on the roster. History They made their debut in the 2019 National Pro Fastpitch season, playing out of Rent One Park, in Marion, Illinois. They began the season with a six-game series sweep of the Beijing Eagles. National Pro Fastpitch
National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), formerly the Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL), was a professional women's softball league in the United States. The teams battled for the Cowles Cup. The WPSL was founded in 1997 and folded in 2001; the NPF revived the league in 2004. A new softball league is planned for 2022, the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF), and the NPF will be disbanded. Victoria Hayward
Victoria Gran Hayward (born 11 April 1992) is Canadian, former professional softball player and current assistant coach for Washington. She played college softball for Washington from 2011–14. She most recently played for the Canadian Wild in the National Pro Fastpitch. She played in the inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited Softball league and finished in third place overall in points earned. She is an outfielder and bats and throws left-handed. She has played for the Canadian Senior Women's softball team since June 2009 and helped them win a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Erika Polidori (born January 26, 1992) is a Canadian softball player. Jennifer Salling
Jennifer Salling (born 4 July 1987) is a Canadian, former collegiate All-American, medal-winning Olympian and professional softball player. She played college softball at Oregon and Washington, and won a national championship at Washington in 2009. She has also played professionally in the National Pro Fastpitch for the USSSA Pride, Pennsylvania Rebellion and most recently the Canadian Wild. She represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she set the tournament batting average record for a single Olympic games, and won a bronze medal. Career Salling began her college softball career at Oregon in 2007, before transferring to Washington in 2008. She won a national championship at Washington in 2009. Janet Leung
Janet Leung (born April 25, 1994) is a Canadian former professional softball player. She played professionally for the Canadian Wild of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). She played college softball at Brown University from 2012 to 2016 and earned All-Ivy all four years. She has been a member of Canada women's national softball team since 2017 and helped the team make history by winning Canada's first medal in the sport at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Career Leung played college softball for the Brown Bears in the Ivy League from 2012 to 2016. Leung competed at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, winning silver. Rachel Lack (born 15 August 1994) is an Australian softball player. She studied at Barker College and went to West Pennant Hills Public School, and University of Hawaii.
