Canadian Australians (french: canadiens australien) refers to Australians who identify as being of Canadian descent. It may also refer to Canadian immigrants and expatriates residing in Australia. According to statistics from 2006, there were as many as 21,000 Australians who have Canadian ancestors. Many Canadian Australians have immigrated from mainland Canada, as well as from the United States of America and from the United Kingdom. According to the 2016 Australian Census, there were 43,049 Canadian born Australians in Australia in 2016, which is an increase from 38,871 persons according to the 2011 Australian Census. Sydney
Sydney ( ) is the capital city of the state of New South Wales, and the most populous city in both Australia and Oceania. Andrew McGrath
Andrew McGrath (born June 2, 1998) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by the Essendon Football Club with the first overall selection in the 2016 national draft. Early life McGrath was born in Mississauga, Ontario and moved to Melbourne, Australia at age 5. French Australians
French Australians (french: link=no, Australiens d'origine française), some of whom refer to themselves as Huguenots, are Australian citizens or residents of French ancestry, or French-born people who reside in Australia. According to the 2011 Census, there were 110,399 people of French descent in Australia and 24,675 French-born people residing in the country at the time of the census, representing an increase of 28.6 percent compared to the 2006 Census. The largest French Australian community is in the state of New South Wales, where they number 8,936 people, many of whom reside in Sydney. European Australians
European Australians are citizens or residents of Australia whose ancestry originates from the peoples of Europe. They form the largest panethnic group in the country. At the 2021 census, the number of ancestry responses categorised within European ancestral groups as a proportion of the total population amounted to 57.2% (including 46% North-West European and 11.2% Southern and Eastern European). It is impossible to quantify the precise proportion of the population with European ancestry. For instance, many census recipients nominated two European ancestries, tending towards an overcount. Canadian New Zealanders
Canadian New Zealanders are New Zealand citizens who are of Canadian descent including immigrants or Canadian-born citizens and residents. Canadian New Zealanders constitute a small minority of New Zealand's population. During the 19th century, many Canadians from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island settled in New Zealand. The largest group settlement was at Waipu, where Scottish-born Reverend Norman McLeod settled his congregation of Scottish and Nova Scotian emigrants during the 1850s. Caldoche
Caldoche is the name given to European inhabitants of the France, French overseas collectivity of New Caledonia, mostly native-born European origin French. The formal name to refer to this particular population is ', short for the very formal ', but this endonym, self-appellation technically includes all inhabitants of the New Caledonian archipelago, not just the Caldoche. Another "white people, white" demographic element (although they may well be French people of different ethnic backgrounds) in the territory is expatriates from metropolitan France who live there temporarily as civil servants. Asian Australians refers to Australians of Asian ancestry, whether full or partial, including naturalised Australians who are immigrants from specific regions in Asia and descendants of such immigrants. Anglo-Celtic Australians
Anglo-Celtic Australians is an ancestral grouping of Australians whose ancestors originate wholly or partially in the British Isles - predominantly in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. While Anglo-Celtic Australians do not form an official ethnic grouping in the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Australian Standard Classification of Cultural and Ethnic Groups, due to the long historical dominance and intermixture of Australians with ancestries from the British Isles, it is commonly used as an informal ethnic identifier. The term has received criticism for erasing historical distinctions between English and Celtic settlers. Sue Richardson (economist)
Sue Richardson (born 1946) is an Australian economist and academic. She has been a Matthew Flinders Distinguished Professor at Flinders University since 2012. Early life and education Richardson was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1946. After completing her secondary education at St Catherine's School in Toorak, she took a BCom at the University of Melbourne in 1968. In 1976 she received a PhD from La Trobe University for her thesis "An economic model of government choice and its application to problems of federalism". Career Richardson's academic career began as economics tutor at La Trobe University. Following completion of her PhD, she was employed by the University of Adelaide as a lecturer and was promoted to reader in 1991. She transferred to Flinders University in 2000 as professor of labour economics and has been a principal research fellow since 2008.
