Canadian Alpine Ski Championships
The Canadian Alpine Ski Championships is an alpine skiing competition organized by Alpine Canada. Organization Theses championships have begun by slalom in 1929 for men, and 1935 for women. Other races have progressively been organized, starting with downhill in 1937. Every year, one or several Canadian ski resorts organize the events, generally beginning from end of March, after the last world cup race. Each title is given after a unique race. Some races may be cancelled (principally speed races) for weather or snow quality reasons. Alpine Canada
Alpine Canada (french: Canada Alpin) is the national governing body for alpine, para-alpine and ski cross racing in Canada. Alpine Canada represents coaches, officials, supporters and athletes, including the racers of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, Canadian Ski Cross Team and the Canadian Para-Alpine Ski Team. Alpine Canada is also involved in promoting participation within Canada's four million recreational skiers. Alpine Canada celebrated 100 years of ski racing in Canada in 2021. Ralph English Miller Jr. (September 23, 1933 – November 21, 2021) was an American Alpine skiing, alpine ski racer. At age 22, he competed in United States at the 1956 Winter Olympics#Alpine skiing, three events at the Alpine skiing at the 1956 Winter Olympics, 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, when he was one of the top Downhill (ski competition), downhill racers in the world. André Bertrand (alpine Skier)
Andr̩ Bertrand (1 June 1931 Р3 June 2019) was a Canadian alpine skier who competed in the 1952 Winter Olympics and in the 1956 Winter Olympics. Bertrand attended Laval University where he was a member of the university ski team. He also coached the university men's alpine ski team from 1950 to 1970. He won the 1950 Canadian men's downhill championship beating out Egon Sch̦pf for first place. He won the downhill championship again in 1954 as well as winning the Canadian alpine combined championship that year. Bertrand was a member of the Canadian team at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway, competing in the downhill, giant slalom, and slalom events. In the men's downhill, Betrand's time was 2:56.0 putting him in 41st place. He finished in 36th place with a time of 2:49.3 in the giant slalom.
