Canadian Olympic Committee
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC; french: Comité olympique canadien) is a private, non-profit organization that represents Canada at the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is also a member of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO). History While Canadian athletes first competed at the Olympic Games at Paris 1900 followed by St. Louis 1904, it was not until 1907 that the IOC officially recognized a National Olympic Committee (NOC) for Canada. The next year, Colonel John Hanbury-Williams was recognized as the Chairman of the Canadian Olympic Committee for the London 1908 Olympic Games. Hanbury-Williams became Canada's first IOC member in 1911. After another Canadian Olympic Committee was created with the purpose of organizing a team for the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, it was reported that the IOC wanted permanent NOCs. Brad Schlegel
Bradley Wilfred Schlegel (born July 22, 1968) is a Canadians, Canadian former ice hockey defenceman. Schlegel was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Kitchener, Ontario. Drafted in 1988 by the Washington Capitals, he also played briefly for the Calgary Flames. Schlegel also played for the Canadian National Team for many years, and was part of the Canadian Men's Hockey Teams that played in the 1992 Winter Olympic Games, 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympic Games, and won the Silver Medal both times. In 1995, Schlegel began playing professional hockey in Austria and Germany. He is a graduate of Rockway Mennonite Collegiate in Kitchener, Ontario. Manny Legace
Emmanuel Legace (born February 4, 1973) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender, who played most notably in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings, and later the St. Louis Blues. Legace also enjoyed spells with the Los Angeles Kings, Carolina Hurricanes, and Iserlohn Roosters of the DEL. He finished his playing career for the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, for whom he is the career leader in goaltending wins. Legace currently serves as the goaltending coach for the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets. Legace was born in Toronto, Ontario, but grew up in Alliston, Ontario. David Harlock
David A. Harlock (born March 16, 1971) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played collegiate hockey with the University of Michigan before being drafted 24th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. Internationally, Harlock was on the team that represented Canada at the 1994 Winter Olympics. Biography Harlock was born in Toronto, Ontario. As a youth, he played in the 1984 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Toronto Red Wings minor ice hockey team. Before being drafted, Harlock played for the University of Michigan. Chris Kontos
Christopher T. Kontos (born December 10, 1963) is a Canadians, Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Kontos is best known for his nine goals in 11 playoff games while he was a member of the Los Angeles Kings and his franchise opening night four-goal performance (with the Tampa Bay Lightning) against that season's Vezina Trophy winner Ed Belfour. Mark Astley
Mark Astley (born March 30, 1969) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the tenth round, 194th overall, of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. He retired at the end of the 2006–2007 season. In his NHL career, Astley played in 75 games, all for Buffalo. He scored four goals and had nineteen assists. Petr Nedvěd
Petr Nedvěd (born December 9, 1971) is a Czech-born Canadian former professional ice hockey player who spent 15 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) between 1990 and 2007. Early career Nedvěd was born in Liberec, Czechoslovakia to Jaroslav and Soňa ("Sonia") Nedvěd. He left Czechoslovakia as a refugee on January 2, 1989, at the age of 17 after playing in an international midget tournament in Calgary. Nedvěd was the star of the tournament, with 17 goals and nine assists. He decided to defect to Canada because of the limited opportunities in Czechoslovakia under communist rule, which was very strict regarding athletes leaving the country to pursue professional careers elsewhere. He did not tell his parents about the decision, and with $20 and the help of another Czech who defected, whom Nedvěd refuses to identify even today, he declared his defection at a Calgary police station. Todd Warriner
Todd Eaton Warriner (born January 3, 1974) is a Canadian retired ice hockey forward. Over the course of his career, Warriner played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Nashville Predators of the NHL. He also played for several teams in Europe, including Jokerit of the Finnish SM-liiga, and the Hannover Scorpions and Kölner Haie of the German Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Wally Schreiber
Wallace E. Schreiber (born April 15, 1962) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey right winger. Career Schreiber was drafted 152nd overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He would go on to play a total of 41 games in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars. In 1989, Schreiber moved to Germany with Schwenninger ERC and later played for EC Hedos München, EV Landshut and the Hannover Scorpions. Brian Arthur Savage (born February 24, 1971) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger who played twelve seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Montreal Canadiens, Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers.
