Camrose (federal Electoral District)
Camrose was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1925 to 1953. This riding was created in 1924 from parts of Battle River and Victoria ridings. It was abolished in 1953 when it was redistributed into Acadia, Battle River—Camrose, Edmonton—Strathcona, Red Deer and Vegreville ridings. This riding was created in 1924 from parts of Strathcona and Victoria ridings. It was abolished in 1996 when it was merged into Lakeland riding. This is a list of Canada's 338 federal electoral districts (commonly referred to as '' ridings'' in Canadian English) as defined by the ''2013 Representation Order''. Canadian federal electoral districts are constituencies that elect members of Parliament to Canada's House of Commons every election. Provincial electoral districts often have names similar to their local federal counterpart, but usually have different geographic boundaries. Canadians elected members for each federal electoral district most recently in the 2021 federal election on . Hilliard Beyerstein
Hilliard Harris William Beyerstein (November 3, 1907 – September 23, 1990) was a Canadian chiropractor and politician. Born in Meeting Creek, Alberta, Beyerstein first ran for the House of Commons of Canada as a Social Credit Party candidate in the 1949 federal election. He defeated 3 other candidates to win the Camrose electoral district. His district was abolished in the 1953 general election and he did not seek re-election that year. Beyerstein moved to British Columbia and ran for another term in office in the 1957 federal election in the district of Vancouver South but was defeated by Ernest James Broome. Parliament dissolved a year later and Broome and Beyerstein would run against each other for the second time in the 1958 federal election. Beyerstein would be badly defeated finishing fourth out of five candidates. Chester Ronning
Chester Alvin Ronning (December 13, 1894 – December 31, 1984) was a Canadian educator, politician, and diplomat. Ronning was born in Fancheng, China, now in Xiangyang, Hubei province, the son of Norwegian American Lutheran missionaries, and graduated from the University of Alberta in 1916 with a B.Sc.. Ronning's family moved from China to the Peace River country of Alberta. Halvor Ronning, Chester's father was instrumental in establishing a Norwegian settlement north-west of Grande Prairie called Valhalla Centre. When Chester Ronning started his studies at the University of Alberta, he travelled by horse from Valhalla Centre to Edmonton along the Edson Trail. James Alexander Marshall
James Alexander Marshall (September 16, 1888 – June 30, 1977) was a secretary, teacher and a Canadian federal politician. Born in Ireland, Marshall came to Canada in 1912. Marshall first ran for a seat in the House of Commons of Canada in the 1935 Canadian federal election. He ran as a candidate from the Social Credit Party in the Camrose electoral district. He would go on to defeat incumbent Member of Parliament William Thomas Lucas in a landslide victory to earn his 1st term in office. Marshall would run for re-election to his second term in the 1940 Canadian federal election, his plurality of votes would be reduced but he still won a comfortable majority. William Thomas Lucas
William Thomas Lucas (1875–1973) was a Canadian farmer and a federal politician. He was born in Bailieboro, Ontario, on July 26, 1875, to John William and Margaret (née Fair) Lucas, both of Irish descent. He attended public schooling in the Bailieboro area as well as the Ontario Agricultural College. On 9 January 1903, Lucas married Charlotte "Lottie" Perrin, of Bailieboro. With her he had three children. His religion was listed as Anglican. Lucas was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1921 Canadian federal election as a United Farmers of Alberta candidate. He defeated two other candidates including former Alberta MLA James Bismark Holden in a landslide where he captured 81 percent of the vote to win his first term in office. Red Deer (federal Electoral District)
Red Deer was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1908 to 2015. History This riding was created in 1907 from Calgary and Strathcona ridings. At the time this was a vast riding taking in much of Central Alberta between the two major cities of Calgary and Edmonton. The only major urban centre was Red Deer, then a small town of only 1,500 people. Once an overwhelmingly rural constituency, it has been consistently reduced in geographic size over the years due to Red Deer's continued growth. In 2003, about 20% of the district was transferred to the Wetaskiwin riding. The riding was represented by centre-right MPs from 1935 onward. Edmonton Strathcona (formerly known as Edmonton—Strathcona) is a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1953. It spans the south-central part of the city of Edmonton. In the periods 2008–2015 and 2019–2021, during the 40th, 41st, and 43rd Canadian Parliaments, Edmonton Strathcona was the only federal riding in Alberta not represented by the Conservative Party.
