Campobasso Football Club, commonly referred to as Campobasso, is an Italian football club located in Campobasso, Molise, currently playing in Serie C, the third tier of Italian football. The club is the primary team of the region of Molise and traces its roots back to 1919. Campobasso plays its home games in the Nuovo Stadio Romagnoli, the largest outdoor stadium in Molise and one of the largest in Southern Italy, with a capacity of 21,800. In 2022, the club was acquired by United States-based holding company North Sixth Group and an investment group backed by Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, Montreal-based real estate investor Angelo Pasto and other international investors. Campobasso made its debut in 1919 and reached the height of its success in the 1980s when the club was promoted to Serie B and played five consecutive seasons in the second tier of Italian football. Stadio Nuovo Romagnoli is a sports stadium located in Campobasso, the capital of the Molise region of Italy. It is primarily used for association football. The stadium currently hosts the home matches of Campobasso Calcio, S.S. Campobasso who play in the Serie C. History The Stadio Nuovo Romagnoli was designed by former Ascoli Calcio 1898 chairman Constantino Rozzi, who also designed numerous other stadiums across Italy. Work started on the stadium in 1983, and Stadio Nuovo Romagnoli was officially opened on 13 February 1985, when Campobasso defeated Juventus F.C. 1-0 in a Coppa Italia match. The structure of the stadium is very similar to that of the Stadio Ciro Vigorito in Benevento, due to the same project and some of the same architects being involved in the Romagnoli's design. Lega Pro Prima Divisione was the third highest football (soccer), football league in Italy. It consisted of 33 teams, divided geographically into two divisions of 16 and 17 teams for group A and B respectively. Until 2008 it was known as Serie C1. Before the 1978–79 season there were only three leagues of professional football in Italy, the third being Serie C. In 1978, it was decided to split Serie C into Serie C1 and Serie C2. Lega Pro Seconda Divisione was the fourth highest football league in Italy, the lowest with a professional status. Tord Erland Grip (born 13 January 1938) is a Swedish former football coach and player. He has worked with several national teams, including England, Sweden, Indonesia, Mexico, the Ivory Coast and Kosovo.
