Campo Atlético Charles H. Terry
Campo Atlético Charles H. Terry (English: ''Charles H. Terry Athletic Field'') or, simply, El Charles H. Terry, is the oldest continuously functioning athletic field and baseball park in Puerto Rico, and the second oldest in the Caribbean Sea, Caribbean. The field is located in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ponce and has a capacity of several thousand spectators. It is located next to the Francisco Pancho Coimbre Museum, Francisco Pancho Coimbre Sports Museum. History The Campo Atlético Charles H. Terry was built in 1909 by initiative of then Ponce High School students Cayetano Pou, Rafael Matienzo and Francisco Perez, and the financial backing of Lucas P. Valdivieso and Fernando Luis Toro. Quinto (Ponce)
Quinto (''Barrio Quinto'') is one of the 31 barrios of the municipality of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Together with Primero, Segundo, Tercero, Cuarto, and Sexto, Quinto is one of the municipality's six original urban barrios. It was organized in 1878. Location Quinto is an urban barrio located in the southern section of the municipality, within the Ponce city limits, and northeast of the traditional center of the city, Plaza Las Delicias. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. Rafael Pujals
Rafael Pujals Cárdenas (ca. 1830 – 23 April 1889) was a late 19th-century Puerto Rican physician practicing in Ponce, Puerto Rico, that excelled as a civic leader. Physician Pujals Cárdenas was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, and graduated from the University of Barcelona, Spain. He was the first physician with a medical degree title in Ponce, becoming the first medical doctor on the staff at Hospital de Damas, where he worked without pay. He later became the first medical director of Hospital Tricoche. In addition to his private medical practice, Dr. Pujals was also the physician for the famed Ponce Municipal Fire Corps in the last quarter of the 19th century. Civic leader Pujals also excelled as a civic leader and on 30 June 1877, he became the first director of the reorganized Gabinete Ponceño de Lectura (Ponce Reading Cabinet), an early version of today's Ponce Public Library. The Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Architecture is an institution of higher learning granting degrees in the field of architecture. It is located in the Ponce Historic Zone, across from Plaza Las Delicias. It was established in 2009. Museo Francisco "Pancho" Coímbre (English: Francisco "Pancho" Coímbre Museum) is a sports museum in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Inaugurated on 21 January 1992, it is Puerto Rico's first sports museum. History The Francisco Pancho Coimbre Sports Museum was inaugurated on 21 January 1992. Triple-A (officially Class AAA) has been the highest level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States since 1946. Currently, two sports league, leagues operate at the Triple-A level, the International League (IL) and the Pacific Coast League (PCL). There are 30 teams, one per each Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise, with 20 in the IL and 10 in the PCL.
