Gabriel Campillo
Gabriel Campillo (born 19 December 1978) is a Spanish former professional boxer who competed from 2002 to 2015, and held the WBA light-heavyweight title from 2009 to 2010. Professional career Campillo made his professional debut on 2 February 2002, which ended in a four-round no contest against David Hernandez. On 20 September 2008, Campillo fought for the European super-middleweight title, but lost a twelve-round majority decision to Karo Murat. In his next fight, on 8 March 2009, Campillo won his first major regional championship by scoring a unanimous decision over then-reigning European Union super-middleweight champion Lolenga Mock. On 20 June 2009, Campillo moved up to light-heavyweight and won the WBA title with a majority decision over Hugo Garay. Campillo defended the title on 15 August 2009 against Beibut Shumenov, scoring another majority decision. Career Atlanta Braves Campillo was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Braves on February 14, . Seattle Mariners Campillo was released by the Braves after the 1996 season and signed with a team in the Mexican Pacific League. The Mariners acquired his rights and signed him on March 26, . He made his major league debut in 2005 with the Seattle Mariners, playing in two games during the season. After leaving a game in 2005 with an injury, Campillo required Tommy John surgery and subsequently missed most of the season. José del Campillo y Cossío (February 13, 1693 in Alles, Peñamellera Alta, Asturias – April 11, 1743 in Madrid), was a Spanish statesman. His writings were influential in shaping the Spanish monarchy's reorganization of its empire, known as the Bourbon Reforms. Life Campillo was of very obscure origin. From his own account of his youth, written to Antonio de Mier in 1726, we only know that he was born in "a house equally poor and honest," that he studied Latin by his own wish, that he entered the service of Don Antonio Maldonado, prebendary of Córdoba, who wished apparently to train him as a priest, and that he declined to take orders. He left the service of Maldonado in 1713, being then eighteen years of age.
