The Campeonato Catarinense de Futebol, known as Campeonato Catarinense or simply Catarinense, is the main competition of association football from state of Santa Catarina, in Brazil. History The Campeonato Catarinense top level has had several different names since it started. From its first edition, in 1924, to 1985, it was called just Campeonato Catarinense (Santa Catarina Championship). From 1986 to 2003, it was named Campeonato Catarinense Primeira Divisão (Santa Catarina Championship Premier Division). In 2004 and in 2005, the competition name was Série A1, and since 2006, the competition is named Divisão Principal (Top Division). Format First stage * All ten teams play a round-robin playing once against each other team. * The top 4 teams qualify for the semi-finals which are played 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd. Brusque Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as Brusque, is a Brazilian professional club based in Brusque, Santa Catarina founded on 12 October 1987. History The club was founded on October 12, 1987, after Paysandu-SC and Carlos Renaux fused. The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C in 1988, being eliminated in the second stage. In 1989, Brusque competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, when the club was eliminated in the first stage. In 1992, Brusque won the Campeonato Catarinense, and the Copa Santa Catarina for the first time. In 2008, Brusque won the Copa Santa Catarina for the second time, after beating Joinville in the final. The club also competed in the same season's Recopa Sul-Brasileira, which they won after beating Londrina after a penalty shootout in the semifinals, and defeating Atlético Sorocaba 2–0 in the final. Caxias Futebol Clube
Caxias Futebol Clube is a Brazilian football club based in Joinville, with a population of more than half a million the largest city of the south Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. The club, founded on October 12, 1920, won in the years 1929, 1954 and 1955 the state championship of Santa Catarina, the Campeonato Catarinense. On the national level the club – nicknamed "Gualicho" after a successful race horse of the early 1950s – took part in the cup competition, the Copa do Brasil of 2000, where it was eliminated in the first round. In 1976 a merger of the football operations with the traditional rivals América FC gave birth to the Joinville Esporte Clube, which since has won more than ten state championships. Blumenau Esporte Clube is a football club from the city of Blumenau in the south Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. History The club was founded on 19 July 1919 as ''Brasil Football Club''. In 1936 the club was renamed to ''Recreativo Brasil Esporte Clube'', and in 1944, owing to a law prohibiting national denominations in club names, to ''Palmeiras Esporte Clube.'' On 19 July 1980 the club was renamed to ''Blumenau Esporte Clube'' in order to widen its appeal in the community. The colour red was integrated into the club's insignia in consideration of the club Grêmio Esportivo Olímpico - founded in 1920 and winner of the state championship of Santa Catarina, the Campeonato Catarinense, of 1949 and 1964 - which ceased its football operations in 1971.
