Camp Horn
Camp Horn is a former United States Marine Corps and United States Army base located in Danang, Vietnam. History Following the initial landing of Marines in South Vietnam on 8 March 1965, the 9th Marine Expeditionary Brigade (9th MEB) established their headquarters in an old French Army compound on the western edge of Da Nang Air Base. The III Marine Amphibious Force (III MAF) succeeded the 9th MEB and took over the compound. On 26 June 1966 III MAF headquarters was moved to a compound on the Tiensha Peninsula on the east side of the Hàn River opposite Danang. The base was named Camp Horn after Colonel Charles Horn, a III MAF engineer who drowned following a Vietcong (VC) attack on the Nam-O bridge on 13 April 1967. In October 1968 Mobile Construction Battalion 12 built a hardened combat operations center at the base. Radio Battalion
Radio Battalions are tactical signals intelligence units of Marine Corps Intelligence. There are currently three operational Radio Battalions in the Marine Corps organization: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. In fleet operations, teams from Radio Battalions are most often attached to the command element of Marine Expeditionary Units. Concept A Radio Battalion consists mainly of signals intelligence and electronic intelligence operators organized into smaller tactical units with different roles. Basic collection teams consist of 4–6 operators using specialized equipment based in HMMWVs. I Corps (South Vietnam)
I Corps () was a corps of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), the army of the nation state of South Vietnam that existed from 1955 to 1975. It was one of four corps of the ARVN. This was the northernmost region of South Vietnam, bordering North Vietnam at the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). The Direct Air Support Center (DASC) is the principal United States Marine Corps aviation command and control system and the air control agency responsible for the direction of air operations directly supporting ground forces. It functions in a decentralized mode of operation, but is directly supervised by the Marine Tactical Air Command Center (TACC) or the Navy Tactical Air Control Center (NTACC).
