Cammingha
Van Cammingha is an old Frisian noble family and their house from the Dutch province of Friesland. The family castle in Ballum is now the location of the town hall. History The oldest known ancestor is one Rienck Cammingha who lived in the first part of the 16th century. Different scions of the family lives on the family estate Wiarda in Goutum near the city of Leeuwarden. The family have played an important role in the Dutch history since the early 17th century. Leeuwarden (; fy, Ljouwert, longname=yes /; Town Frisian: ''Liwwadden''; Leeuwarder dialect: ''Leewarden'') is a city and municipality in Friesland, Netherlands, with a population of 123,107 (2019). Ballum
Ballum is a village on the western half of the island of Ameland and the smallest of the total of four villages on the island, one of the West Frisian Islands and part of the Netherlands. History The village was first mentioned in 1473 as "jn balnera lees: balmera buren", and means "settlement of Balle (person)". Ballum is an ''esdorp'' with a triangular village square which developed in the Late Middle Ages. In the early 15th century, the castle Jelmera State was built in Ballum which later became known as Camminghaslot after the Cammingha family became owners of the island. The castle started to deteriorate and transporting stones to the island was too expensive, therefore, the island was sold to John William Friso, the Prince of Orange. The Dutch nobility is a small elite social class constisting of individuals or families recognized as noble, and with or without a title of nobility in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The existence of nobility was established in the Constitution of the Netherlands of 1814. Those who belong to the nobility were entitled to certain privileges, in particular to take a seat in the "Ridderschap", a former executive and legislative assembly at the regional or provincial level, and herewith the power to select members for the States-Provincial. Wytgaard ( nl, Wijtgaard or WytgaardG. van Berkel & K. Samplonius (2018), Nederlandse plaatsnamen verklaard (in Dutch)) is a village in Leeuwarden municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 570 in January 2017. History and name Wytgaard started as a small hamlet in the 17th century in an area that was that until approximately the 13th century situated on the edge of the former Middelzee. The hamlet arose in a Roman Catholic enclave west of the Protestant village of Wirdum. The area was listed as "Wytghardera ny land" in 1485. Possibly this refers to a monastery that would have stood there, also explained as '' De Witte Gaarde''.
