Camille Dungy
Camille T. Dungy (born 1972) is an American poet and professor. Career Born in Denver, Colorado, Dungy graduated from Stanford University (BA) and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, where she earned her MFA. She is the author of four poetry collections – ''Trophic Cascade'' (Wesleyan University Press, 2016), ''Smith Blue'' (Southern Illinois University Press, 2011), ''Suck on the Marrow'' (Red Hen Press, 2010) and ''What to Eat, What to Drink, What to Leave for Poison'' (Red Hen Press, 2006) – as well as a recent collection of essays entitled ''Guidebook to Relative Strangers'' (W.W. Norton, 2017). The National Book Festival is a literary festival in the United States organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress, founded by Laura Bush and James H. Billington in 2001. Emily Rosko
Emily Rosko (born 1979) is an American poet and is on the faculty of the College of Charleston. She is the author of ''Raw Goods Inventory'' (2006) and ''Prop Rockery'' (2012) poetry collections, both of which have won awards. Career Rosko received her B.A. in English and Creative Writing from Purdue University where she studied with Marianne Boruch and Donald Platt. She earned her M.F.A at Cornell University under the mentorship of Alice Fulton, Ken McClane, Phyllis Janowitz, and Deborah Tall. She went on to complete a Ph.D. in English and Creative Writing working with Scott Cairns, Lynne McMahon, and Sherod Santos at the University of Missouri. She taught previously as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Cornell University, and she is now Associate Professor at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Lucille Lang Day (born December 5, 1947) is an American poet, writer, and science and health educator. Day has authored or edited 20 books and is a contributor to over 50 anthologies. She is best known as a poet and writer for her award-winning memoir, ''Married at Fourteen: A True Story'', for her integration of science imagery and concepts into poetry and for advocating use of poetry as a tool in environmental activism. As a science and health educator, her many achievements have included promoting science education for girls and serving as codirector of Health and Biomedical Science for a Diverse Community, a project that was funded by the National Institutes of Health and aimed to make biomedical science more accessible to underrepresented minorities. Guggenheim Fellowships are grants that have been awarded annually since by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation to those "who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts." Each year, the foundation issues awards in each of two separate competitions: * One open to citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada. * The other to citizens and permanent residents of Latin America and the Caribbean. Sewanee Writers' Conference
The Sewanee Writers' Conference is a writers' conference held every summer on the campus of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. The conference was started in 1989 by founding director Wyatt Prunty and the current director is Leah Stewart. The conference is funded largely by an endowment from the estate of acclaimed American playwright Tennessee Williams.
