Camilla Thorsen
Camilla Nordberg Thorsen (born 30 December 1975) is a Norwegian team handball player who played for the Norwegian clubs IL Bergkameratene, Gjerpen, Tertnes and Nordnes, the German club HC Leipzig, and the Danish clubs Viborg HK and Ikast-Bording. She retired from top handball in 2008. Thorsen became European champion with the Norwegian national team in 2004. She also played at the 2005 World Women's Handball Championship The 2005 World Women's Handball Championship, the 17th team handball world championship for women, was played in Saint Petersburg, Russia between 5 and 18 December 2005. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. European Women's Handball Championship
The European Women's Handball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national handball teams of Europe, and takes place every two years. In addition to crowning the European champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games and World Championship. Nordnes is a peninsula and neighbourhood in the city centre of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. Vågen, Byfjorden, and Puddefjorden surround the peninsula. The Bergen Aquarium is located at the tip of the peninsula. The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research and Fredriksberg Fortress are also located on Nordnes. Viborg HK (Viborg Håndbold Klub) is the name of a Danish handball club from Viborg. The club has many teams for both women and men, but especially the professional women's team is one of the most successful in Danish and European handball since the beginning of the 1990s.
