2022 Camden London Borough Council Election
The 2022 Camden London Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022. All 55 members of Camden London Borough Council were elected. The elections took place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom. In the previous election in 2018, the Labour Party maintained its control of the council, winning 43 out of the 54 seats with the Conservative Party forming the primary opposition with seven of the remaining seats. The Liberal Democrats and Green Party were also elected to the council, with three seats and one seat respectively. The 2022 election took place under new election boundaries, which increased the number of councillors to 55. Labour held control of the council, winning 47 seats. The Liberal Democrats overtook the Conservatives as the second-largest group, winning four seats. Camden Square
Camden Square is a rectangular town square in the London Borough of Camden running parallel to Camden Road north of central Camden. It has a playground and dog walking area, and St Paul's Church is at the north end. It has a perimeter of . At the south end is the London Irish Centre, which has served the boroughs' Irish community for over sixty years. Notable residents Amy Winehouse and Orlando Jewitt both lived and died on the square, and one of its houses once housed the West African Students' Union. Indian politician V. K. Krishna Menon lived in a house there from 1924 to 1947. In May 2012, the property where Winehouse lived and died was put on the market for £2.7 million after her family decided it was inappropriate to live there. Currently the area directly opposite the singer's former house is used as a shrine with gifts and letters left by fans around the trees and the fence to the square. Danny Boy Beales (born 1988) is a British Labour politician. He has been a member of Camden London Borough Council since 2014. Beales was the party's candidate for the 2023 Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election, the seat previously held by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He lost the election to Conservative Party candidate Steve Tuckwell Early life Danny Boy Beales was born in 1988 and grew up in West London. Beales was raised by his mother as a single parent. He was made homeless twice while a teenager, both times after his mother was made redundant from work, living for a while with his grandparents in Northampton, and then in a council house in the area. He benefitted from an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), allowing him to complete his A-Levels.
