Camden is a town in Camden County, North Carolina, Camden County, North Carolina, United States. It is the county seat of Camden County, a consolidated city-county. As of the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census, the Camden town had a population of 599. Camden is located on the eastern banks of the Pasquotank River, across from which lies Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Elizabeth City. It currently has two traffic lights, and is centered at the intersection of U.S. Highway 158 and North Carolina Highway 343. It boasts five schools: Grandy Primary School, Camden Intermediate School, Camden Middle School, Camden County High, and Camtech Early College High School. North Carolina Highway 343
North Carolina Highway 343 (NC 343) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It serves to connect the county seat of Camden with both the north and south ends of Camden County. Route description NC 343 begins at the intersection of Wharf Road (SR 1104) and Texas Road (SR 1100) in Old Trap. Going in an northeasterly direction and parallel to Pasquotank River to its west, it goes through the communities of Alder Branch, Shiloh and Taylors Beach. Passing through Camden, it links with U.S. Route 158 (US 158). Continuing northeasterly, it continues through the communities of Spences Corner, Lambs Corner, Burnt Mills and finally South Mills, where it joins US 17 Business (US 17 Bus.). Milford (Camden, North Carolina)
Milford, also known as the Relfe-Grice-Sawyer House, is the oldest two-story brick home located near Camden, Camden County, North Carolina, United States. Its 1746 construction date is carved on a brick on the interior face of the north chimney & was confirmed by dendrochronology test in the 1990s. The formal two-story brick gabled structure, two bays deep and three bays wide, has interior end chimneys terminating in molded caps. The brickwork is of Flemish bond with glazed headers, featuring three-course stringers of Flemish bond between the first and second stories and at the base of the gables. The use of one-to-three common bond in the brick of the south gable represents the earliest known example of this type of bonding in North Carolina.
