The Cambridge Bears were a junior ice hockey team based in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. The team was a member of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League during the 2014–15 season however they were pulled from the league by their owners. The club played their home games out of the Cambridge Sports Park. History In July 2014, it was announced that Cornerstone Sports Group had been granted a franchise in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) for their Cambridge Bears team. The Bears were announced to play the 2014–15 season out of the Cambridge Sports Park. The Bears finished their debut regular season in twenty-first place overall and fifth in the South Division of the South Conference. All clubs advanced to the 2014–15 Russell Cup playoffs with the Bears being drawn against the North York Renegades in Round One of the sudden death Elimination Qualifiers. Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League
The Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) is a Canadian developmental junior ice hockey league. The league has primarily had teams in the Greater Toronto Area, Central Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Quebec. In 2019, they added three teams from Alberta. As of December 2019, the league's alumni page lists 889 players from 2006 to 2019 who graduated from the GMHL to play for NCAA colleges, various professional leagues, major junior teams, or represented their country in various IIHF World Championships. 2014–15 GMHL Season
The 2014–15 GMHL season was the ninth season of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL). The twenty teams of the GMHL played 42-game schedules. Starting in February 2015, the top teams of the league played down for the Russell Cup, emblematic of the grand championship of the GMHL. Since the GMHL is independent from Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League, this is where the GMHL's season ended. The Niagara-on-the-Lake Predators are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL). The Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) is a professional ice hockey independent minor league with teams in the Midwestern, Southern, and Northeastern United States.
