Pey Au
The ''pey au'' (sometimes spelled ''pei au'' or ''pei ar'') (Khmer: ប៉ីអ) is a Cambodian musical instrument, similar to a flute but using a set of double reeds to produce sound. The instrument uses an external reed, cut from a prebos tree and flattened with small strips of ratan. The bundle is insterted into a hold at the top of the flute part of the instrument, creating a mouthpiece. The instrument's body is made of "narrow bore bamboo", narrower than that used for the ''khloy'' vertical flute and ''pey pok''. The instrument gives the pitch to be used in aareak and phleng kar wedding orchestras. Pitches are not standardized in Cambodia, although the spaces between pitches is. Tube Zither
The tube zither is a stringed musical instrument in which a tube functions both as an instrument's neck and its soundbox. As the neck, it holds strings taut and allows them to vibrate. As a soundbox or it modifies the sound and transfers it to the open air. The instruments are among the oldest of chordophones, being "a very early stage" in the development of chordophones, and predate some of the oldest chordophones, such as the Chinese Se, zithers built on a tube split in half. Most tube zithers are made of bamboo, played today in Madagascar, India, Southeast Asia and Taiwan. Kong Ring
The kong ring or gung treng (Khmer: គង់រេង) is a Cambodian tube zither, in which a tube of bamboo is used as a resonator for stings that run along the outside of the tube, lengthwise. It has the same musical purpose as the "Kong mong, bossed gongs" (circular gongs that have a rounded bump in the center, like a shield boss) and may substitute for them and accompany singing. Although it is a traditional instrument with a long history, it has been improved on in modern times. Chapei Dong Veng
The Chapei Dang Veng (Khmer language, Khmer: ចាប៉ីដងវែង) or chapey (ចាប៉ី) is a Cambodian two-stringed, long-necked guitar that is usually plucked. Tro Khmer
The ''tro Khmer'' () is a traditional bowed string instrument from Cambodia. Its body is made from a special type of coconut covered on one end with snake skin, and it has three strings. Instruments are not standardized, and coconuts vary in size; however the instrument's sound bowl may have dimensions 16.5 cm by 14 cm. In the past the strings were made of silk. By the 1960s, metal strings were in use, and the sound of the instrument changed, becoming sharper. The ''tro Khmer'' is closely related to a Thai instrument called ''saw sam sai''. The instrument may be related to the similarly shaped Indonesian version of the rebab, arriving there from Muslim culture, c. 15th century a.d.
