Cambarellus Patzcuarensis
''Cambarellus patzcuarensis'' is a small, threatened species of crayfish in the Family (biology), family Cambaridae. It is native to Mexico and often kept in aquariums. Description It measures in total length, including claws. Most specimens found in the wild are brown, sometimes with a gray or blue tint. ''Cambarellus patzcuarensis'' var. "Orange" (Mexican dwarf crayfish, sometimes Mexican dwarf orange crayfish) is an orange-coloured mutation often held in aquariums, but this form is rarely found in the wild. Distribution The species is named after Lake Pátzcuaro, at an altitude of in Michoacán, Mexico. Besides in Lake Pátzcuaro, ''C. patzcuarensis'' also occurs in springs in Chapultepec, Opopeo and Tzurumutaro. Crayfish are freshwater crustaceans belonging to the clade Astacidea, which also contains lobsters. Cambaridae
The Cambaridae are the largest of the four families of freshwater crayfish, with over 400 Species. Most of the species in the family are native the United States east of the Great Divide and Mexico, but fewer range north to Canada, and south to Guatemala and Honduras. Three live on the island of Cuba. The species in the genus ''Cambaroides'' are the only found outside North America, as they are restricted to eastern Asia. A few species, including the invasive ''Procambarus clarkii'' and '' Faxonius rusticus'', have been introduced to regions far outside their native range (both in North America and other continents). Lake Pátzcuaro (Spanish: ''Lago de Pátzcuaro'') is a lake in the municipality of Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, Mexico. Lake Pátzcuaro lies in an endorheic basin, which does not drain to the sea. A watershed area of 929 square kilometres drains into the lake, of which 126.4 are the water body. The Lake Pátzcuaro watershed extends 50 kilometres east–west and 33 kilometres from north to south. Lake Pátzcuaro lies at an elevation of 1,920 metres, and is the center of the basin and is surrounded by volcanic mountains with very steep slopes. Chapultepec, more commonly called the "Bosque de Chapultepec" (Chapultepec Forest) in Mexico City, is one of the largest city parks in Mexico, measuring in total just over 686 hectares (1,695 acres). Centered on a rock formation called Chapultepec Hill, one of the park's main functions is as an ecological space in Greater Mexico City.
