Corinne Calvet (April 30, 1925 – June 23, 2001), born Corinne Dibos, was a French actress who appeared mostly in American films. According to one obituary, she was promoted "as a combination of Dietrich and Rita Hayworth", but her persona failed to live up to this description, though the fault lay as much with a string of mediocre films as with a lack of a compelling talent, for Calvet's sultry looks and flashing eyes were allied with an impish sense of humour. Pierre du Calvet (1735 – March 28, 1786) was a Montreal trader, justice of the peace, political prisoner and epistle writer of French Huguenot origin. Biography Family Pierre du Calvet was born in the Summer of 1735 in Caussade in the French province of Guyenne (today the Tarn-et-Garonne ''département''). He was the oldest of a family of five children. His father, Pierre Calvet, of Calvinist confession, had his children baptized as Catholics. He however passed on his Protestant faith to them. Raphaël Calvet (born 7 February 1994) is a French professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Martigues. Calvet is a product of the Auxerre youth system and after failing to break into the first team squad, he moved to England to join Brentford in 2013. La Fondation Calvet is an art foundation in Avignon, France, named for Esprit Calvet, who left his collections and library to it in 1810. The foundation maintains several museums and two libraries, with support from the town. The original legacies of paintings, archaeological items, coins and medals, and medieval sculpture have been added to by many other legacies, and a significant deposit of works of art from the Louvre. The archaeological collections and medieval sculpture are now housed separately in the "Musée Lapidaire" - once the chapel of the Jesuit College. The main museum is in an 18th-century city mansion, to which modern buildings have been added; the Library bequeathed by Calvet, and the important collection of over 12,000 coins and medals, have moved to a different location in the city. Damià Calvet i Valera (born 23 May 1968) is a Spanish politician from Catalonia and the current Minister of Territory and Sustainability. Laurent-Emmanuel Calvet (born 28 February 1969) is a French economist. He taught at Harvard University, at HEC Paris, and is now Professor of Finance at EDHEC Business School. Esprit Calvet
__NOTOC__ Esprit Calvet (28 November 1728 – 25 July 1810) was a French physician and collector. Calvet came from a long established family in Avignon and was educated at the Jesuit college in the town. He studied medicine at the university in Avignon, in Montpellier and then in Paris. He returned to Avignon and became the first Professor of Medicine at the university. He eventually became the chief doctor of the Hôpitaux Sainte-Marte. In his last will, dated 10 January 1810, Calvet donated his cabinet of curiosities, his library and a few pictures to the town of Avignon. The donation was accepted by Napoleon I in a decree dated 9 April 1811. The collection is housed in the Musee Calvert on rue Joseph Vernet in Avignon. Club career Born in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona, Catalonia, Calvet joined FC Barcelona's youth setup in 2008, aged 14. Dom Gérard Calvet (18 November 1927 – 28 February 2008) was a French Catholic abbot and founder of the Sainte Madeleine du Barroux abbey in Le Barroux, France. He was considered to be an important figure in contemporary Catholic traditionalism. Early life Calvet was born in Bordeaux, Gironde on 18 November 1927. He took his vows to become a Benedictine monk in the Benedictine Abbey of Madiran on 4 February 1951. Calvet was ordained a Catholic priest on 13 May 1956.
