Caloundra Australian Football Club is an Australian rules football club that is based in Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, Queensland. It competes in the QFA Division 1. Known as the Panthers, Caloundra used to play in a higher division but, due to player shortages for the 2012 season, it can only gather a side for a lower division that does not field a reserve team. History The club started in 1973 and played in the Sunshine Coast and Gympie Districts AFL. After winning back to back premierships in 1987 and 1988 the club transferred to the QAFL for the 1990 season. The switch was not a success as Morningside kicked a record score against them – Morningside 47.28.310 defeated Caloundra 1.3.9. After returning to the Sunshine Coast in 1991 it won the premiership, and followed up again in 1992. In 1993, the league shut down and the Sunshine Coast clubs played in the Brisbane AFL. Brisbane Lions
The Brisbane Lions is a professional Australian rules football club based in Brisbane, Queensland, that plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was formed in late 1996 via a merger of the Melbourne-based 1883 foundation VFL club the Fitzroy Lions, and the 1987 Queensland based expansion club the Brisbane Bears, with the colours of maroon, blue, and gold being drawn from both parent clubs. Eric Hipwood
Eric Hipwood (born 13 September 1997) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Hipwood was born in Melbourne's inner suburb of St Kilda. His parents were passionate St Kilda Saints fans who had married in the stands of Moorabbin Oval prior to his birth. His grandfather, Ken, was instrumental in establishing the Aspley Football Club in Brisbane's northern suburbs and his father, Brad, was a former senior player for Aspley. The Greater Western Sydney Giants (officially the Greater Western Sydney Football Club and colloquially known as the GWS Giants or simply GWS) are a professional Australian rules football team based in Sydney Olympic Park, which represents the Greater Western Sydney region of New South Wales and Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray west of Melbourne, the club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before gaining admission to the Victorian Football League (which became the AFL in 1990) in 1925. Sam J. Reid (born 7 November 1989) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Greater Western Sydney Giants and Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Reid was born in Bundaberg, Queensland and grew up on the Sunshine Coast. He played junior football for the Caloundra Panthers before switching to the Zillmere Eagles closer to his draft year to increase his chances of being selected by an AFL club. AFL career Reid was drafted to the Western Bulldogs with the 35th selection in the 2007 AFL draft. He debuted against Adelaide in the final round of the regular season of 2008. Daniel Dzufer (born 21 January 1988) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Dzufer was drafted as a rookie with the 35th selection in the 2007 AFL Rookie Draft. The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition.
