Calloway County School District
The Calloway County School District is located in Calloway County, Kentucky, United States and is the educational home to over 3,000 students. The district operates Calloway County Preschool, three elementary schools (Southwest Calloway Elementary, North Calloway Elementary, and East Calloway Elementary), Calloway County Middle School, and Calloway County High School. Calloway County students and teams are referred to as "Lakers." Calloway County High School offers many elective courses and extra-curricular activities including Academic Team, FFA, FBLA, Technology Students of America, Drama Club, Choir, and Band. The Calloway Lady Lakers were state championships in Fast Pitch Softball in 2004 and Regional Champions in Boys Track & Field in 2009. Calloway County, Kentucky
Calloway County is a county located in the southwest part of the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 37,103. Its county seat is Murray. The county was founded in November 1822 and named for Colonel Richard Callaway, one of the founders of Boonesborough. Calloway County comprises the Murray, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area. Calloway County is a moist county: the sale of alcohol in the county is prohibited, with the exception of the city of Murray. History Calloway County was created in 1822 from land taken from Hickman County. The courthouse was built in 1823. A fire at the courthouse in 1906 caused the almost complete destruction of the county records. Calloway county was named after Richard Callaway. National FFA Organization is an American 501(c)(3) youth organization, specifically a career and technical student organization, based on middle and high school classes that promote and support agriculture, agricultural education. It was founded in 1925 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, by agriculture teachers Henry C. Groseclose, Walter Stephenson Newman, Walter Newman, Edmund Magill, and Harry Sanders as Future Farmers of Virginia. In 1928, it became a nationwide organization known as Future Farmers of America.
