The simple-station Calle 45 is part of the TransMilenio mass-transit system of Bogotá, Colombia, opened in year 2000. Location The station is located north of downtown Bogotá, specifically on Avenida Caracas, between Calles 42 and 45. History In 2000, phase one of the TransMilenio system was opened between Portal de la 80 and Tercer Milenio, including this station. The station is named Calle 45 because of its proximity to the street of that name. The service covers the demands of the students who attend the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, Universidad Piloto and Universidad Javeriana. It also serves the neighborhoods of Palermo, Sucre, Santa Teresita, and Clinica Nueva. On March 9, 2012, protests lodged by mostly young children in groups of up to 200, blocked in several times and up to 3 hours in the trunk stations Caracas. Avenida Caracas is an arterial road in Bogotá, Colombia that runs through the city from north to south. Names The road has four names along its stretch: ''Avenida Caracas'', ''Troncal Caracas'', ''Carrera 14'', and ''Carretera a Usme''. Chapinero is the 2nd locality of Bogotá, capital of Colombia. It is located in the north of the city and is one of the more affluent districts of the city. This district is mostly inhabited by upper class residents. The boundaries are Calle 39 in the south, Avenida Caracas in the west, Calle 100 in the north and the Eastern Hills in the east. TransMilenio
TransMilenio is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system that serves Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, and Soacha. The system opened to the public in December 2000, covering Avenida Caracas, Caracas Avenue and 80 street. Other lines were added gradually over the next several years, and as of 2022, 12 lines totalling run throughout the city. The Portal de la 80 is one of the terminus stations of the TransMilenio mass-transit system of Bogotá, Colombia, opened in the year 2000.
